Well, tried the sled out last week in stock form and it was not bad but needed some tweeks. First off, u must remove the sway bar or you'll be tossed come the first off camber landing. Removing the sway bar resulted in major body roll in the corners...so I bumped up the compression dampening clickers to max. This made a big difference in how the sled launched off the jumps and now it lands with control but the clicker shock adjustment is not enuff to eliminate body roll, too much push in the corners. I'm going to increase the spring preload and see if this helps..this will allow me to reduce the compression dampening and hopefully give me back some clicker adjustability. As for the rear, all I've done so far is change the cam to "stiff' position. It was bottoming out on me prior to this and now it's just enuff..I'll increase the rear shock compression dampening and I should be good. The sled flies predictable and is very much like riding my YZ thumper. Traction...there is no doubt in my mind that I'll have to switch to a 1.5" snow-x style track, waaay to much spin. I've read somewhere that camo has a 'freerider" track that is 1.5"x 14" x 121". Talked to Ulmers and we're going to try some clutching that will improve bottom-midrange acceleration.
Overall...I am so pumped to be able to just make minor mods to my Yammie and have a competitive snow-x sled out of the crate
I'll take some pix of it in action...hopefully I'll have some new graphics and the exhaust done by then.
It's good to be back

hey!
Must be nice to be able to ride your sled. Mine is still in the garage, waiting on snow. Dont be taking my clutch set-up from Ulmers! I talked to them on Friday, he is supposed to be putting me something together.
So are you going to race in the phazer class? I would love to put that freeride track on, and some C&A's, but then I wont be able to run in the class. Are you going to try the intake mod?

Yeah...we have had unreal snow conditions, best since 86'! I'm going to do the intake mod, exhaust, track, clutching and possibly stiffer springs for front and rear shocks. As for meeting the rules lol!
I'm setting this thing up to be a great snow-x sled for me, not the racing association...I'll simply race in any class they'll let me and let them know that I don't care about getting series points/tropies etc. I just wanna dice with the other sleds and with my phazer being less power, I really don't have any sort of advantage and should be considered the underdog. I do know my customers and the race fans would luv to see a yamaha out there racing, makes for good conversation and it helps me show the phazers potential. So whether or not I'll be allowed to race remains to be seen...but we built a track at 7c's place and I'll get plenty of motos in there regardless. Besides, beating up all my buddies on Skud's and putty tats brings me way more satisfaction heh heh
btw, i'm going riding tomorrow and i'll try and get some vid/photos

I dont know yet about beating my MXZX 440! I dont think that is going to happen. I am racing them both. As soon as we get some snow, I will line them up. Both will be clutched and geared for Snow-X. So it will be a fair race.

Shocks
Well I took all of my shocks off today. Sending them out to get re-valved for my weight, and snocross racing..Since there is no snow for me in the forecast, this buys me some time, and I dont have to worry about blowing the shocks out, first time out. That should help get rid of that body roll too. I did take off the sway bar. Now I just have to wait for my clutching to come.
