Terry, I agree here.....If someone has snow and is riding trails (not off-trail), I would like to hear how 1-3 with the orange spring works out.
I hope someone checks backpressure with 3/2 and 3/1 and compares that to backpressure with stocker at 3/3.
It seems like something might be diff with tangs or the spring just simply has way way more torsional pressure.
I like the idea of more sidepressure with "similar" torsional pressure to stock for good overall performance.

Just shooting all a note on the orange secondary spring.
I have not blown a belt but I don’t run as hard as some people. I was wrapped at 3 3
I changed to 2 3 and I am up north now trying it.
I have 1000 miles on overall and was getting what seemed to be a lot of belt dust.
I am running TP clutching wit TD flash. Powertrail with CAI and TD muffler
Stock helix
Just made two lake runs and I am hitting the rev limiter at 9500.
The clutch setup for weight is what Lon told me to start with. Here is the data on my first setup.
============
Heal 3/4 set screw
Middle 3/8 hex head screw
Tip 7/16 hex head with 1 thick washer
============
Made changes as follows
Heal 3/4 set screw
Middle 3/8 hex head screw
Tip 7/16 hex head with 2 thick washers
Made couple runs and did not hit rev limiter. WOT rpms were at 9000
=============
I made one final change but was unable to try it yet.
Heal 3/4 set screw
Middle 3/8 hex head screw with 2 thin washers
Tip 7/16 hex head with 2 thick washers
Hope to try this weekend.
1500 mile on original belt. I did notice less belt dust this weekend. Today I cleaned clutches in order to get a feel for how much dust is coming off.
Also adjusted the belt height
Made the last change after talking to nos-pro. Thanks
Mike

Your tuning with what is probably a worn out belt. If you put a new belt on and break it in properly I bet your rpm’s will drop down.

Just received a pm from a member here and he tried 3-0 twist and had cool clutches, went 123mph gps with 8JP on a snow covered river....whereas the 2-3 twist, the clutches were a lot warmer and mph slowed to 117mph gps with both the 8JP and 8DN.
This is good because we still have room to play with percentage twisting.

Yes, it was Thunder Products clutching.
Also running the 911 cover, 35/39 helix, cold air intake and powertrail

What do you say about removing weight in the heel when turning the secondary less?

Keep your weight in the heel. It keeps the belt from slipping at engagement.

I'm confused. I thought the more wrap, the higher the RPM? (Theoretically better speed as well? ) Especially curious as I just first tried mine at 2-3. Definitely warmer clutches than with stock (secondary spring) . Outside temp was 45 degrees though and no top end runs.

Yes more rpm with more twist. The caveat is too much twist and the clutches may stop shifting out. The big deal here is hot clutches = inefficiency and at full shift out the CVT system is already very inefficient. Belts sticking in the sheave can suck huge amounts of horsepower at higher belt speeds.I'm confused. I thought the more wrap, the higher the RPM? So with all this clutching talk, 3-1, 1-6, 2-3, 3-2. Which # applies to which component ? I know one is the helix and the other is the clutch itself. But is the first # listed ALWAYS for the clutch,or the helix ? Granted when dealing with a 6, its only on one component, but depending on who inserted the #s, as in 2-3 it could go either way. This might be causing some of the clutching problems. Consistant posting of spring wrap #s will help.Just received a pm from a member here and he tried 3-0 twist and had cool clutches, went 123mph gps with 8JP on a snow covered river....whereas the 2-3 twist, the clutches were a lot warmer and mph slowed to 117mph gps with both the 8JP and 8DN.
