Did u run the 35/39 on the tar? I'm hesitant whether I like it or not. Did you guys try any other angles? If so any others working good? You'll like it. I've been running prototypes all summer with great results.

Running it now. Also like 33/35 in winter for deep and steep riding. 35/39 is better for top end. But they are close.Did u run the 35/39 on the tar? I'm hesitant whether I like it or not. Did you guys try any other angles? If so any others working good?

For everything. All Yamaha sleds since 2003 RX1 to now expect utility and phaser. It removes all possibility of coil bind and it a little different spring rate.what the orange for a trail setup?

Grabbed some glide washers, and the 33/35, and the orange torsion...was all in stock so grabbed em while he had em.
So are we wrapping the orange @ 60 degrees?
Anxious to see what, if any clutching changes on my 50th....will open her up when she arrives.

Great info guys!
This is what I like seeing, ....members helping members
Shagman and I have been testing the prototype springs for awhile now. @Dieselxtx and a few others helped out with verifying the results with their own sleds. (Thank you guys!) Crazy how just a little more or less twist and side-pressure can change the whole aspect of a clutch setup from just changing a secondary spring.
Thumbs up to all!!!

I think I will call and order my kit today. There are too many good reports here to ignore the benefits this kit offers even on a stock engine.

Hey Bud....DAN,add a little extra weight to the mid section of the weight or you''ll over rev there .This is with Lonns stk kit for the stk winder .
Im not certain the direction Im going initially with the new 18. And for all I know, the 18 could have updated springs??? Dealer told me Yammie is saying there are updates in the clutching, so we will see.
I like to tinker as you know, so I wanted to grab the orange anyway....I like that its better clearanced and guys are liking it who helped develop it. I also know I wanted less angle(rev helix) on trail speeds for more bottom spool. We also know glide washers simply make sense to stop coil bind in primary. So I saw Lonn had these items in stock and grabbed them.
Honestly I like the Dalton weights more then Hitters...Just a preference thing, ease of adjustment thing. And I gotta give Dale some lovin..haha
The thing is, I am holding off on weights for now...as I likely will run the sled stock for awhile, and maybe all season depending on how good/long the season is. I believe the best is yet to come with the SW development from the gurus. And I want to see where Ben and Dave and others take these tunes, and where the clutching goes. I know I want to go with MOD STOCK MUFFLER, and so far I like Mikes the best, as he has real world feedback Ive read from owner, and also he has posted his dyno numbers showing big power(but stock quiet).
Likely will go with TD for tune, as I have used Ben before a few times now and always his tunes are flawless, not to take away from Daves stuff or others.
I may grab some 66g Dalton adjustables and run them with dalton spring(53/133) and glide washers and 33/35 and orange, on stock motor to see how it works. Im in no rush to turn this thing into a rocket, A ton of basic stuff needs to go onto the sled first before all the go fast goodies.

Called and talked to Lonn Yesterday. What a nice guy to talk with. enjoyed the conversation very much. He seen fit to separate me from some money and will be sending me the orange spring the hole shot helix and a carbon fiber belt. he really sold me on the belt. Are you guys having issues with the stock 8jpbelt?

The Gates Carbon Cord belts work well for performance and consistency....I ran them on the cat, the doo 1200 loved them. But the cat could eat them fast. They are a softer belt aimed at performance. Dont expect it to last any longer then a 8JP. Similar in cost too. But Gates comes with a 1 yr warranty so you can get a new one.Called and talked to Lonn Yesterday. I believe the way to go is to run the MUCH CHEAPER 8DN($55) for trail riding day to day....Pile the miles on the cheaper 8DN and set your deflection up so it rides like a DOO belt, Top cogs over the 2ndary. Then run the 8JP for radar runs and any time you need all your top speed. 8DN is a very hard belt, compared to others.
What I hope for more then anything...is the clutching works properly, efficiently so the belt life is back to Yammie type expectations...Glide washers IMO are a MUST for any setup, even stock....Since the stock LONG primary spring tended to BREAK last yr due to binding(over 3000 miles or so)....Clean up those spring seats in primary, add 2 glide washers(Lonn sells them) and likely cure that issue.

I talked to Lonn this morning and ordered the clutch kit with HH weights orange primary spring and orange secondary spring. I may order the 33/35 helix in the future. Right now all my rollers are contacting the stock 35 helix and I'm not sure I want the 33/35 with the higher revving low end. I'm going to see how it performs with the straight 35 first. I've had some kits that rev too high during slower trail riding and I didn't like them. Either way from what I'm hearing the orange secondary spring should solve any coil binding issues and the new orange primary spring and glide washers should solve any primary spring breaking issues along with any inconsistencies.Called and talked to Lonn Yesterday. JOE,get the helix it just helps get on boost sooner and in the deep the back shift with a 137 is much better .It's not revy if you feel it is ,add weight to the ramps ,simple .ENJOYI talked to Lonn this morning and ordered the clutch kit with HH weights orange primary spring and orange secondary spring.
