I have a new leftover 14 LTX SE with zero miles. I don't want to fully clutch until it is broken in because I want to set it once and leave it alone (Live in Texas, sled in UP for a week a year and no time waste adjusting during that week). Can I buy the midnight blue secondary spring, shim the secondary and run the 8DN belt and eliminate coil bind for next year until I ready to fully clutch? Or do I need to change the weights as well right now?

Thank you

No sure on your answer but I consulted with Shagman and Nospro on my set up and they had me dialed in on first install of the clutch kit.

If you buy the blue spring you should not have to shim, it is a smaller wire diameter. I am running that spring and a dalton 46-40 helix with yamaha parts (COTC) in my primary with pretty good results.

I would shim in order run the 8dn belt. I would like the spring to eliminate coil bind and get full shift out. Was wondering if the spring would work with the rest stock or is it essential to go with full kit.

Ok, I thought you were talking about shimming the helix out. That spring should work with the rest stock. You might have to play with the wrap a little to get your rpm's in the ballpark until you do the rest of your clutch kit.

Still think that if anywhere near 1/4 from top of primary and top end is your goal you should be gearing. Clutching becomes so easy, repeatable and accurate when the clutches aren't working so hard to shift that belt. Lower rpm you can reach your peak speed is also a huge help.
