Timming jumped

Seems like you are pretty confident the cam timing is off? If that's the case I don't think I'd risk cranking engine to do a compression test. Before I did that, I'd pull valve cover and look at cam timing. The cams are marked as is the crank. You could assess if the timing is off (for SURE) before any cranking. As SPM says, if any valves are loose (or stuck), that a sign of big trouble.

Just to be clear guys the sled was not driving or anything it was on a stand and did not start it started fast but then stalled and plugs were really wet not sure how much pressure it takes to bend valves but all I did was turn motor over now how would I check iff it did bend some
You wouldn't believe how tiny the valve stems are in these 998 engines (didn't measure them but I'd guess about 3/16"). IF pistons did hit valves, it wouldn't take much at all to bend them. See pic of new 998 head. It's a little hard to see in pic but look at how small the diameter of the valve stem is.

If it was me, I would not re-use head gasket as once they are crushed when head is torqued down, they can't be used again. Given how big a job it is to get the head off one of these, if you re-use the head gasket and it leaks (either compression, oil, or coolant) then you've gone through a heck of a lot of work on an expensive engine that you're going to have to do all over again. Not worth the risk IMO.

Agree with the above.

Ok thanx everyone gonna pull the head off tonight and see iff any valves got hit hoping all is good new head gasket and put er all back together and hopefully all runs good

Do head studs will your at it

If the valves don't appear to be bent when you get the head off be sure to look closely at the top of the pistons for any indication there was valve to piston contact.

Yes sir will do and ny turbo there is already arp studs installed

IMO, FIRST thing to do is pull valve cover off and check cam timing rather than go right to removing head. You can easily tell if it's wrong. As I said, the cams and crank are clearly marked so it's easy to tell if it's off.
Do you have a service manual? It spells out exactly how to time the 998.

sorry travis. tommy sent this to me and i had to use it somewhere. lol
if ya need any help give me a call.

That's good to hear.
