too much ski pressure please help....

1st 100 mile ride it seems like there is way too much ski pressure, darting . how do you adjust to get rid of some ski pressure? do you let out on the limiter straps or adjust transfer. apex er.

thanks it looks like my limiter strap is released all the way . i just got done releiving spring tension on the skis . there is about 10 threads showing above the lock nut. did i release it too much i don`t want it to be too soft up front and bottom out. i also adjusted the transfer rod to just shy of the the max position. thanks

After a season of playing with my adjustments I gave up on the stock skis. No more darting with slydogs. Keel design and flotation performance of stock ski is inferior in my opinion....

by the way. I have my front springs set at full soft so they do not touch the collars when skis are lifted off floor. didnt bottom on the landing you see in my avatar and i weigh 325lbs. front is nearly impossible to bottom....

3/4 towards full transfer. limiter strap in stock position. full soft on springs and the biggest change was by far the slydog skis. the keel is so agressive that i can steer perfectly even with transfer back to 3/4 and springs fully soft.

you may have trouble steering with the stock skis and little ski pressure... i did.... you can get 140-150 nucks for worn stock skis on ebay. slydogs are 350.00 dont waste your money on dooly;s or other stuff to make the stock skis work... i did all that ...the skis are junk....

i am running bergstrom triples w/ ski savers and the powderhounds. it is really a good combo.... i have 168 studs so i need the triple 8's.... they are aggressive....

i loosened the big nut on my front shocks and backed off the pressure all the way now i just have the big nut touching the spring and i like the way it rides i thought it would be to soft but it's not got to put on 100 or so miles and finally got to try allen's clutch kit it rocks sled pulls like an f-18. going on poker run this weekend will be racing all of my bud's and bro's rtx.guess i better carry some tissues for them cause there gonna need it

Quickest / easiest remedy to eliminate darting is to install 6" Woody's Doolys if you're not studded, 8" of you are studded. Then fine tune front ski preload & weight transfer.

Hang on guys. There is no way to adjust the cruising or braking ski pressure on sleds with the monoshock skid. Other than moving actual weight around on the sled, all you can do is change the skis and carbides to change the cruising steering effort.

Both the limiter and weight transfer setting only affect ski pressure while accelerating (and to some extent while riding rough trails).

The monoshock skid is designed to have a virtual pivot point somewhere between the tunnel mounting locations and there is no way to move it. This pivot location is what controls the weight on the skis. With a traditional skid you can vary the front ski spring preload vs the center shock pring preload (front track coil over), but the monoshock doesn't have this.

I'm not saying I consider this necessarily a problem. Everyone I ride with and I have found Yamaha's designed in ski pressure was about right for us (after some Bergstrom ski shimming, ski savers & 6" or 8" carbides).
