Last ride I was able to talk the completely stock machine into delivering 95 mph @ 9170 RPM on a groomed stretch. 16.5 mpg over 102 miles also!

Did the ones who are disappointed in top speed not do any research?, All of 5 min.s on the internet and I knew what I was in for with this sled. I came off a 800 the would do 120 and knew this wasn't that sled....just curious as this seems like something people should have known before purchase.
BTW, long break in on these too, topped out at 94 with 700miles on odo, 97 around 1200 and got 100mph recently at around 1800, gps speeds.

VMAX if you want top end buy an APEX if you want a VIPER then plan on getting beat by 600 top end unless you spend money to clutch it. Hopefully the 2016 are better. If I remember correctly 98 SRX was 140 to 145 HP. The Viper I have was anywhere from 126 to 130 HP stock. The guys I know with 15's run better than stock 14's I had to play with mine to be consistent anywhere 80 MPH sled. I have seen 95 in perfect condition once in 3700 miles generally hard pack 85 to 90 on the lake. I am a big guy so that's ok. But I am buying a new Apex or MZX-X 800 I will ride them this Friday and make my decision, I have a 2006 Apex and I still love it.

I will say this again. I was and still am very happy with STOCK top speed. Most of us trying for more speed are not stock anymore. Thats why there is whining. Lots of $ and HUGE amounts of time are being put in to get 1-2mph more. Thats life. Sometimes it isnt easy. It hurts wallet and is a big sacrifice in time to get everything possible out of anything. Nobody likes failure and us Mod guys are struggling. Life goes on and we all try to keep the riding enjoyable. Hopefully next weekend will bring more results. Have been learning something every weekend. Its getting there! If anyone doesnt want the MPH and doesnt want the work and time involved just dont Mod your sled. Its that simple. That said thanks for listening to those of us who want more whine. I agree we should really keep it to ourselves but all the folks here are like family. Is easy to get help and some amount of sympathy. I plan to try not whining. But if you dont listen to the story you may miss the punchline till it goes right by Ya!

Ya, I understand the modded guys not being happy throwing all the $$$$ and not seeing much, so I understand that, certainly the info on mods hasnt go tme to open up the wallet yet. I guess I was just baffled that some didn't know that stock limit from the get go. Anyway great forum for info, the 7000 stuff kinda gets lost in the cat forums. I guess I had to open my yap as sometimes it feels that if the rider got a hang nail it would be Cats fault, lol.
Anyway, Im one of them wierdos that's a Cat guy, but knows that every Manu. make some great sleds and some not so great ones, but each have their strong and weak points, I like em all...well, maybe not Polaris
Cheers, Todd

My freind have a XF800 141"x1.6" like my Viper XTX and Is having hard time to do 100mph. So maybe its a combination of engine/chassis.

Make the jump. 100+ mph sleds have been around for decades. I'll take my viper for 300 miles a day and feel great the next day. Can't say the same for the older sleds.

Viper was easy choice for me because of where I ride, where am I going to be able to do over 100mph?
Well on second thought NOS-PRO might try 100mph through those trees but NOT ME!

I have the 1.6 track on ltx se and I can see 91-93 mph on a groom trail with 3 inch of new snow or on a lake. It wouldn't do that until I got the clutching right. 85 would be all it would do in those conditions. I did have it going 105mph once on a long hard groomed trail when I first bought it. Conditions and temperature play a huge factor with these sleds.

I can hit 95-96 most days. Saw 100 once across a lake once. All stock standard sr 129 1.25. Still debating if the clutch kit is worth the few mph.

Some guys could barely hit 85 but I think with everyone's help most of them have been fixed. I did research no where does it say 10 mph or so slower than heavier nytro and vector with exact same engine. No where does it say they reduced hp this year by 7 hp or maybe even last year not sure. I'm pretty happy now with mods I maybe able to hit the 93 -95 . Not what I think a sled of this price point should be the fun factor is off the charts. Some people are stating facts not whining. Two different things.but yes your right some are just whining and bashing the viper just for fun but I think they are just dropping in and out.

Just remember showing 95 on the viper speedo would be equivalent to 105 plus on the nitro speedo. I was racing with my buddy's 05 F7 at the drag races this past weekend. The one nitro there couldn't keep up to us he got spanked. He was hanging around the guys with the heavy iron so I assumed it wasn't stock but don't know for sure.

Agree. Conditions play a huge role in these sleds.
Riding Michigan UP trails, a few weeks ago. The high speed big mile grade trails.
Speeds varied between low to mid 90's mph to where I seen 102 & 103 mph just by the different snow and trail contions.
