We are starting a project that will be using the Yamaha 2008 Phazer motor to power a Ultralite type aircraft. One of the calculations is propeller speed. The goal is to spin the prop at 1800 to 2000 RPM. We want to build our gear reduction to match HP and Torque at a optimum RPM/Fuel Efficiency/ Engine life . When we take into consideration these three variables it will let us select propeller size and pitch. With different gearing ratio's we can make our prop selection. We understand or at least we think we understand that different reduction ratio's will produce great or less torque and at a specific engine RPM.
Can anyone help us, point us in the right direction to calculate Torque based on RPM and different gearing ratio's for the Phazer motor ?
Thanks
