137 skid on viper, getting wear at bottom of bend just ahead of first wheel... track I believe is loose enough, 25 pound weight 2 inch space... why might a 4 inch long area be wearing so much, 450 miles down to the wear line, plenty of loose snow.

When installing new slides TYPICALLY they will wear exactly the area OP mentioned. After this initial wear then usually stop wearing and will last a long time on good lube(snow). This skid has always been that way with slide wear. 450 and down to wear line sounds off as something is not right.
