Upgrading to MS 16 SM 3 bar along with a Turbosmart BOV. Currently running Powertrail SM with 2 bar and stock BOV. If I put the 3 bar sensor in will the Powertrail tune have to be rewritten to work with the 3 bar ? I had a few trips this year where I could only get 87 octane. I would like to keep Powertrail as a backup for the s$it gas days.

I believe it's a different tune.
They also still have Max16 for the 2 bar sensor too.

I guess I don’t understand what you are asking.
I mean if your upgrading tunes and you don’t have the bundle, your upgrade will be the only tune you have right?
You would have to downgrade back to Powertrail for a cost. Without the bundle you can only use one flash at a time?

I was told that I could not just add a 3 bar sensor to my old Max Spool 16 2 bar tune, so I upgraded to the 3 bar tune for some coin! So I imagine I could not do the opposite either!

No bundle. Of course I am looking for more and want Max 16. If I upgrade to the bundle will they all be 3 bar tunes? If I upgrade Powertrail to MS16 I think you are correct. No more Powertrail . I am going to call TD on Monday and get pricing and specifics. I don’t want or need ecotrail but I probably should have got the bundle to begin with!I guess I don’t understand what you are asking.

You are correct, If you dont have the bundle then your current flash will disappear when you flash your new tune. Personally I would just carry a bottle of torco or klotz in case you run into sketchy fuel.......much cheaper than upgrading to a tune bundle when honestly you know as well as I do youll spend 99.8% of the time on the biggest oneNo bundle. The more I think of it I think this is the route I will go. I can just use less throttle and carry some torco. The crap gas issue only came up 2 times in Quebec. It was mixed with a half tank of 91. So maybe 89.You are correct, If you dont have the bundle then your current flash will disappear when you flash your new tune. Well you should confirm with TD, but it is my understanding that when you upgrade, you only need to pay the difference. However, if you want to keep powertrail, then you may have to pay for another tune outright. If that is true, then you may as well upgrade to the bundle. With the flasher you can switch between tunes, but not on the go like you can with the dashflash.
Also, powertrail(and ecotrail) can work with three bar.

I went from Eco to Max Spool 16 and that was a real noticeable difference power wise.No bundle. Of course I am looking for more and want Max 16. But from Powertrail to Max Spool 16 I can’t really say!
Maybe the Max 16 tune will have more down low, but what is the overall hp difference between the 2?

I think it is about 270 with the 3 bar. They say Powertrail is 250. Sled runs good with Powertrail but always looking for more!I went from Eco to Max Spool 16 and that was a real noticeable difference power wise.

Is your Powertrail tune a stock muffler (sm) tune ?
Reason I ask, when they first came out, they were both smm tunes and not stock muffler tunes. Max Spool 16 first version was their introduction into the sm market black then, at least through my dealer who had flashed both of my tunes! But back then with smm eco was under 250 and Powertrail was around 265 ish.
Are both eco and Powertrail now sm tunes?

Both of those tunes are available as stock muffler tunes or performance muffler tunes with obviously the performance muffler tunes making a little more hp than their stock muffler version. Is your Powertrail tune a stock muffler (sm) tune ?

Thanks for that info. Just trying to stay informed concerning TD tunes, but Wow they have really kicked it up a notch with the tune choices for sm. Kinda why I have a smm. I had to get a smm years ago to run any of their tunes.
My smm was OKd to run with TD’s Max Spool 16 when I got it 2 seasons ago, because of the 2” inlet not letting the muffler breath much extra! Great tune that Max Spool 16 3 bar with BOV.
