I purchased a base map for my power commander kit. I am going to start at 10 psi on my s/c. I have the wide-band commander, the ignition module, the p-c 3, the multi-function hub with the boost module, and the lcd screen. Has anyone started from scratch in making their fuel and ignition mapping? Where should I start and what #'s should I be using to tune this in. I want to do a step by step thread to pass along to fellow TY boost junkies and of course get my attak running right. Thanks for any advice.

Can I tune the fuel and ignition maps by running the sled with the track off the ground? No snow yet, and not sure if a grass run will be enough to tune the maps.

That would give you a perfect map to use when running the sled on the jack stand, sorry but that would not work running the sled how it supposed to out on the trails. You have a PC3 and Ignition module. I'm sure Allen Ulmer at www.ulmerracing.com have a map worked out for your application, or at least supply you with mappings that you can use as a base. Does the PC3 have any data logging capabilities? Without it is virtually impossible to creat a working map IMO.

The PC3 has plenty of data logging...it has a SD card slot that you can just turn on data logging and it will map all information necessary to build a map...
However, I would argue why got the PCIII route and not the PCV route...
Both can log the data, but the PCV allows you to go to the point of using AutoTune...which still allows you to data log just like the PCIII...

Do they offer a PC V for an apex? I purchased the pc3 two years ago when I was n/a. I have the wideband commander as well and that can log data. Maybe 1000 foot grass runs will get me close enough until the Lake freezes. I am going through the learning curve on making my own maps. Allen was (as usual) very helpful and hooked me up with some great tips. Because every sled and application is different I have to design a custom map. Has any members designed a dynojet map without using a Dyno? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I may have a Land and Sea Dyno available for use, has anyone used these and what was your thoughts? I have heard mixed reviews. Maybe there is a snowmobile Dyno in northern New England that I am un-aware of, I think New York is the closest, but I am not certain.

Not to start a debate on the PCV but after talking to some tuners at this point I am happy to have the pc3. I really could use some help in where to start as far as making a map. Do I make runs at a specific RPM and then look at the a/f then set the fuel to get the correct a/f? What is an acceptable air/fuel ratio at lower rpms? Do I adjust fuel on all of the throttle position slots up to that specific rpm? Thanks.
Why not find someone in the area with a track dyno. You can tune intil you have it real close and not have much left when it hits the snow just minor tweaks.

I have looked in my area and I believe the closest one is in New York and that is about 4-500 miles. If anyone knows of one in N. New England I would be grateful for the name.

How are you detecting boost with the PCIII?

I have the multi/function hub with the boost attachment from ulmer racing. I have been talking to dynojet and they have given me some tips and recommended a harness that ties my wide band commander to my lcd screen so I can data log both air/fuel and the pc3/ignition modules onto my sd memory card. Should be testing this weekend if everything goes right.

I've tuned a few vehicles on the street. It not as easy or safe as a dyno but sometimes you gotta do it! Just slowly try and work your way up in little increments while keeping a close eye on all gauges and listening very closely for detonation. You gotta try and hit as many different load/throttle/rpm combo's that you can. You want around 14.7:1 air/fuel for cruising and light throttle and around 11.7:1 for heavy throttle and when your in boost. You can also pull around 1 degree of timing for every psi boost to be safe. You will have to keep a close eye on everything for a while (especially when conditions change). Hope this helps!

Why don't you just get RB3?

That's the input I am looking for, some real world #. I have read that N/A perfect burn is 14.7/1. I have also seen that under boost 12.5/1 is as lean as you should go. So at 10 psi I want to pull 10 degrees? Seems heavy but I certainly do no want to be popping a head gasket. I am running a .060 cometic on 93 octane sunoco on 10 psi. How lean is the max for this set up. You guys are the best for sharing these expensive lessons. I hope Karma repays you for your help but if not pm me and we will see what we can do for you up here in Maine. LOL

What is the advantage over the pc3? Never used one so I am being sincere.
