Hi Everyone, I'm hoping for some help for a buddy of mine. He has a 06 Apex with a rear mount bender turbo and has all kinds of problems. It seems when he is under boost somehow the studs tear apart his exhaust! He does have tunnel protectors that sit well below the exhaust but his Dealer is telling him the track "baloons up" under heavy load and the studs hit the exhaust. Track tension is tight. The dealer tried a 1 inch track and smaller studs. About 8 boosted passes later, same thing. Apparently, the studs destroy the clamps and then rip a hole in the exhaust itself. $1000 each time!!!!!!!!! 4th time this year!!!!!!!!!! Any suggestions?
Thanks

Pull the suspension, Add Hyfax to tunnel protectors, with Rivets Problem solved.

One mans tight is another mans loose, Tighten the Track MORE!

Ted.

What Ted says, I had to do exactly the same on my MCXpress rear mount to avoid destroying my charge tube and exhaust.

Here is a good analogy on why Ted said to add to the OEM tunnel protectors and tighten your track... Watch how much the rear tires on Top Fuel dragster balloon as it rips down the track, or even during the burn out !!! Snowmobile tracks naturally do this to some extent, even more exaggerated with the higher track speeds of the turbo sleds, then add centrifical force from the added weight of the studs...

It doesn't matter if you have a 1/2 track or 1.50 track, it's the clearance between when ANY track touches the tunnel protector and your exhaust. You have to accomodate for the additional ballooning in the center by adding to that clearance! ;)!

Thank you to all for helping out. I will relay the info. Since I hadn't heard of this before in this forum I didnt know that this is a common problem. So eveyone adds the additional protectors? By the way this is a GT 121 inch track.
Thanks again, Much appreciated

Stock gearing, not so much of a problem but it starts rearing it's ugly head when you gear up to use that additional power from being boosted...

And if any of the Old Forge / Town of Webb Police are reading this... I don't have this problem because I obey the 20 mph speed limit now!
