Just think Tom, once it breaks it, those numbers will be better!

Ill have to see once I get some miles on it.
I remember when mine broke in or when the ecu let it free. I felt the pull instantly.

Does the ECU on the Viper limit HP during the break in period like the Ski Doos?

No, but after 1000 miles all 4 strokes wake up a bit.

Thanks Tom! Is it advisable to put 500 or so miles on my sled to break it in before adding a turbo? Perhaps 500 miles, change the oil & filter then add the turbo?

I added my turbo on the sled at zero miles. Its a matter of varying the throttle at break in ... thats whats important. No steady speeds over a few sec at a time.

Thanks Tom! I am so anxious to add the turbo but others are telling me to wait to see if I am happy with the Viper without it and to break in the engine properly. I think that I should probably ride it stock first if for nothing else to establish a baseline in my mind of the stock performance so that I can better appreciate the added benefit of the turbo later.
The problem is that we need more snow in order to properly test it on the trails and I have the time now to install the turbo while I wait for the snow. What to do...what to do...I guess that it is not that terrible of a problem to have LOL!

I hear ya... I thought the same thing and just installed it anyway. I also have a Stock Viper XTX with the some Ulmer Mods that you could drive if you wanted to compare
Actually in some ways adding the turbo should help in the breaking process. You want the motor to rev and expand the rings to wear into the microscopic hatching in the cylinder walls. The extra pressure created by the turbo helps that happen. You need the motor to rev up and drop back just no long periods of WOT.
Just like any machine with so many moving parts and rotating mass as the motor breaks in all wear and contact surfaces mate and it becomes more efficient. Just like the RX's and Apex at about 1000 miles you reach Nirvana!!!!

In the seventh picture what is that filter for coming off the oil separator. I have a turbo install but no filter, it's just tubed down by my air box.

Thats a crank case breather... your tube should have a white vented plug in the end of it... thats a vented line for the case.
