So poking around I can find a few references to changing the upper large wheels. Yamaha Part # 8GC-47530-10-00 2007 Phazer GT.
I can see that the spring pre-load has to be released as it goes around the shaft that the wheels are pressed on.
Wondering if there is some detailed info on removing the assembly to get at the wheels, so far I have not had any luck. How can you release the spring tension? Any other details would be welcome.
Thanks

You can release the tension by taking the long end off the skid rail after you rotate the lower retainer.

Thanks, so remove the wheel and rotate so the spring will pass? A lot of tension on there I assume putting this back will not be fun either
Lowering the setting on the adjustment to "S" would help as well.
Looks like 4 or so bolts after than and the pivot removal seems to be another fun task I'll start soaking them in PB now.

Phazer Frequently asked questions Sticky at top of Phazer section has alot of this info in a real easy to find form.

No need to remove anything to let the spring tenson off. Just rotate the lower retainer forward (you may need to lift up the back for the sled for clearence) and then the spring should just be able to be lifted up and over the lower wheel. Because you are pulling on the "long end" of the spring with lots of leverage it's not too bad. Just make sure you have the back end high enough for the spring to clear the floor.
