I have a 2015 LTX that I put the OSP adjuster on, and using the stock 8JP there has not been much dust at all. My grandson has a 2014 XTX with an 8 JP, and there does not seem to be much dust on that either. Lots of people have complained about the dust, but I never really saw it as a problem. That is until I just opened up the clutch side panel on my 2016 XTX, and all the white paint and white plastic was pitch black on the inside, I mean PITCH BLACK. I have never seen anything like it.
Why the difference? Is it just a difference in how the clutches are aligned on the sleds, or maybe a difference in the belts themselves? Would putting an OSP adjuster on my XTX help? Anyway, I have ordered the Gates version of the 8JP, and I hope that makes a difference!

My opinion is it's just this belt and that 8jp belt compound is known for lots of dust. I just got my Gates belt but have yet to be able to test it out.

I've heard the stock secondary spring doesn't bite the belt hard enough so it slips in the secondary. I tend to believe it because as soon as I put a big venom kit with new spring in my sled the belt dust went away. I also use a gates 8jp belt which is a little softer. But even with the gates belt on a stock clutch I would have a lot of belt dust

I run stock pink spring on my 250 hp turbo with gates belt, no slipping at all. After riding on a 10 mile long rail grade at 50-80 mph my clutches feel cold to the touch, to say they're warm would be an exaggeration, they literally have no heat in them at all..and the inside of my clutch area is all nice shiny white. So it's really about the complete clutch setup..more so than just one or two miscellaneous things.

Has anyone ran the regular gates belt and not the carbon fiber and seen good results? Does the regular one offer more "grip" than a yamaha 8JP or 8DN?
I'm just getting my clutching set up with the factory 8JP and liking it so far.

I did. Definitly more grip than 8DN or 8JP. So much so I didnt want to have to completely change my clutching so I gave it to NosPro and he ran it on his Nytro! Was 8JP length. If I remember right it dropped my rpm by 300 vs 8dn.Has anyone ran the regular gates belt and not the carbon fiber and seen good results? The CF gates belt on mine also drops rpm down 300 vs the Yamaha belts.
