Ok, someone is trying to convince me that straight alky is better than 50/50 water methanol because that is what they run in their turbo car.

Anyone have input on this?

I think they are seeing advantages of it as a liquid intercooler...

The alcohol is a hydrocarbon and will contribute in two ways.1 it adds fuel to the combustion and 2 also helps to control detonation. In my experience, alcohol alone as an additive to the gasoline is not good enough to control the combustion heat. That's why we add water to the alcohol.Water does a very good job controlling detonation and the alcohol keeps the water from freezing.Sometimes I'll play with the mixture depending if I'm looking for the added fuel or more detonation control

Hurricane,

Thanks! I feel better now.

I've ran straight methanol as a base fuel in drag engines and fully understand that, but seemed to loose power due to pre-ignition under a good load when tried injecting it straight as a mist / anti-knock over gasoline. Made more power with more boost with a water mix but wanted to reassure myself i wasn't out in left field...
