Weight Difference Between Models?

I just bought and already love my SW LTX SE, came from a Viper RTX SE

curious on the weight difference between models:
LTX to RTX?
Viper to Sidewinder?

obviously the viper RTX being shorter and not having the additional engine weight of the turbo/intercooler is lighter, the feel of the sled is so different, it's definitely more of a ditch banger.

The power and smoothness of the Sidewinder is amazing thou!

Don't shoot the messenger but I recall seeing a chart in the back of a snowmobile magazine that said a sidewinder ltx was #30lbs heavier than a viper turbo ltx, mpi turbo for viper I believe in north of #25lbs, I would say a winder is close to #60lbs heavier than non turbo viper.

found the info I was looking for, all dry weights, add 80lbs roughly for wet weight.

Wow! No wonder us off trail viper guys are not sold on the winder, after riding a 153" winder and then getting on a 153" non turbo viper felt like hoping onto a 2 stroke.

Definitely can, for fast trail riding the winder is the way to go, I'M still looking for a good deal on one for trail riding, but it is very clear why the winder feels so nose heavy and doesn't fair too well off trail compared to viper's in equal track length's.

I believe American Snowmobiler had wet weights posted a year or so ago comparing to a turbo Viper. Going from memory....
Viper LTX turbo wet weight = 630lbs
Sidewinder LTX wet weight = 670lbs
That's a 40lbs difference. Take out the 20lbs a turbo adds makes 60lbs difference. Those numbers jive with yours.

OMG, Killin me here.. My Winder MTX 162 weighs 630 wet ready to ride with only exhaust change and few OEM items removed. If you go to the Mountain Sidewinder forum of this site. Find Mountain Sled Weights on first page you find all brands wet ready to ride on scale. MTX162 100% wet ready to ride is 643.... With that...if ur short track sleds weigh 670, better buy the mountain and shorten it....lol

X2! I have the same sled-- Winder MTX 162 and the thing just rips out in the mountains. The weight comments just make me smile as I current own 2 winders and a viper. Just got back about a week ago from Wyoming......and heading back out there next week. Surprisingly, I rode my LTX LE Winder and my Viper LTX SE out west before I got the mountain sled (new to me this year as a leftover). I changed tracks on both the trail sleds to give them more traction in the deep stuff--but honestly riding the winder and viper is really no comparison. To say that the winder doesn't fair too well off trail (previously posted) compared to the viper really makes me scratch my head. Just my experience of owning all three and using them off trail.

Don't get your panties up in a bunch, I know the winder is a capable off trail sled, I'm not some 2 stroke owning troll, I love the winder and viper sled's, I can only dream of riding out West, but for now those are my observations from going off trail in the UP steep and deep and tight trees, I am sure the terrain and riders experience has allot to do with it, but just my observations so far from this season.
