What is the cause of the wet left foot? Engine heat? Anyone tried placing vents to cure the problem.

Gotta ask. I've heard this term before but am still unclear what is meant by "wet foot"?

there is a part update (8GL-2197B-00-00) that was put on the 09's and above to help with the problem but I think people are still getting the "wet foot" but a good pair of boots and snowpants will fix any problems you could have with it... heres a couple reads on the issue...

heres the problem... long read...

buy a pair of Klim boots and problem solved! Don't mess with it any further. The plate that was made on the 09's has the potential of destroying your clutch should a belt every break.

SBM peice looks nice i may try it next year if my fix doesnt work out for me this year. My foot would be just a solid chunk of ice. Klim boot rule but gotta get rid of the ice. takes 30 min to get my boots off cuz they gotta thaw lol.

I've got an 2010 and 2011 XTX both will soak your foot. Klim boots take care of this! You need Gore tex

It's a result of the heat from the engine melting the incoming snow whether in the form of snow dust from sleds or heavy snow from the sky, you know the stuff we are lacking right now! The plate added in 09' helped but after one belt let the top laminate go it was destroyed I decided to pass on getting a new one thinking the damage to the secondary would be more than I wanted to deal with. I've got Klim gear and Water proof boots, but as mentioned the block of ice your foot becomes is ridiculous. Basically, don't follow anyone, don't ride in snow storms (seems ironic really), and you'll probably never catch the LBS (Left-Boot Syndrome). I drilled holes in the faring around the tank to try to remove the heat before it made it to the belt area, no luck. You can block the vents and holes on the left side of the toe hold but the belt will get hot, if you added a side vent it may be an option.

I'm on my 2nd nytro and ride between 2,800 and 3,000 miles/year and never noticed. Must be a special conditions thing or somthin'? Thanks for the 411 on the wet foot though!
