I have been looking into getting new headlights for my truck. I have found many different types of bulbs with a price range of $25 to $3oo. I heard that lumens might be they way to tell if certain bulbs are brighter than others, but I don't know if that is the way I should compare bulbs. I want to get a good bright reliable bulb. I would be willing to pay $200, but I don't want to have to pay that if I don't have to. So my main question is how to tell compare leds and if anyone has any recommendations for dual beam leds. Or if I should maybe even look into hids

Are you talking "upgrading" to LED or HID bulbs in your halogen housings or replacing the whole assembly?

There no way to just swap the bulbs and still be legal and not be a danger to other drivers due to excessive glare.

If you're planning on changing the whole housing I can't really suggest anything, you'd be best served looking on a forum for your specific vehicle.

If you're looking at getting brighter bulbs you have a few options:
- Upgrade to better bulbs (not those stupid blue ones, actual, good quality bulbs)
- Build/buy a new wiring harness to get more power to the bulbs.
- Do both of the above.

The candle power forums and the Daniel Stern website are good places to start reading.

Ok I'll have to do a little more research then. Thanks for the info
