So I've been thinking about trading or selling my 11 Apex XtX. I approached my local Yamaha dealer who flat out refused to trade my sled . Nice huh #$%&* Guess they don't want to sell me a Viper ! I then called a dealer a hour away and they are willing to give me 9600.00 towards a Viper Xtx. I figure that's about all I will get if I sell privately, agree ? With the trade value i'm still upwards of 6K to get into a new Viper. I just don't know what to do ! What would you guys consider to be a fair asking price for this Apex ?

Specs on sled

2011 Apex XTX
1.5" Crossover track
stage 2 Ulmer racing clutch kit
Full set of Excel wheels
Skull decal kit
Ohlins front shocks
Semi aggressive Snowtrackers
HID's
tunnel reinforcements
Hitch
front skid plate
Windshield storage bag
Billet fuel cap
Powermadd handguards
Deluxe cover

Only "3850Km's"

IMHO thats a very fair price from a dealer.

I assume you get the trade tax advantage like we do in N.B.which makes it worth over $1,1oo more than that again.

Sell the Ohlins seperately, that another $400 or so. [Heck, I might even buy em for my XTX Turbo.]

Whether a new Viper is worth that much more is a personal decision. $2,000 a year is not bad for a 3 year trade though IMHO.

You,ve got a beautiful and proven sled there, with all the bugs worked out. You might want to hold off on buying a Viper, especially if you like performance. From what I,m starting to gather from racers and watching the sno cross results, I would be keeping my 2011 Apex, if I owned one. Ride it for 1 more year, and monitor how well the first year buyers are liking their Vipers. Maybe the dealer is doing you a huge favor, by not wanting to take your sled as a trade-in.

Thanks for the replies !

You made a good point about the first year sled and possible issues. I dearly love everything about the Apex ,, except the weight. I ended in deep a lot last year and managed to bury the damn thing beyond stuck. several times . Sitting on the stuck sled , by myself , I keep wishing for something lighter with Yamaha reliability . I not a huge fan of the Nytro so this new Viper sounds to good to be true . Maybe it is :yam:

Your sled is awesome. I ride with a couple of buddies that have the Doo 1200s. Nice quiet, reliable sleds as well, and much lighter.
The only thing I would miss switching to those from my 07 Yamaha RTX is the extra torque and HP that we have. Just not quite enough balls, from the way we trail ride up here in Ontario.
Now IF doo would upgrade the 1200 to about 150-160 HP, different story. LOL
Sounds like you go out sledding alone, a lot.
I would want something I know is going to be dead nuts reliable.

Yeah, I spend a good part of the winter hunting coyotes by myself. Not to mention breaking trail to the cabin every weekend. I really liked how the XF800 handles so this new Viper has me itching all over lol .

x2. I was moving from an 08 Apex 40th LTX GT and was 99% sure I was pre ordering a Viper. After lengthy takls with my dealer, and searches online, I decided on a new, noncurrent Apex. I found an 11 xtx that had just under 300kms that the dealer put on himself.
I'm glad I went this route, as I usually swap sleds every 2 years, and the feedback on the 1st Year of the Viper will make my desicion that much easier.
BTW...$9600 seems bang on. I paid 10500 for my XTX at the end of the season.

Frosty where in Canada are you? Far from Ottawa? If you decide to trade or sell next year I am interested.

I don't care what sled I rode on I couldn't pick it up if I got stuck. My back and muscles are gone with the years. So I have a SnowLift Jack mounted on the side into the footwell and and Warn SnoWinch on the rear. Now I get out all by myself no matter were I go. I relax when riding alone with the wife in the boonies without cell service and during mid week when the trails are baron.
