When to switch to synthetic

Let me first start by saying good day all. I am new to this forum, and just got back into sleds last winter.
Now to my question, and I am sorry if this has been done to death but I have been looking on the net and have not found much on it.
I have a 2011 RS Venture and just did the oil and filter, but now I am thinking i am being toooooo nice to it because I went to full synthetic Yamaha oil. I have about 1000 kms (600 miles) on it so I am wondering if this was enough time for break in with regular oil. I am not going to get into the whole what brand? thing because that has always been a matter of preference. Just wondering about the break in time. This is my first 4 stroke so I want to treat it right.
BTW liked it so much I just picked up a 2012 RS vector as well. :4STroke:
 
I think you'll get a number of good idea and bad idea on this as well. Personally I would have waited until you had 2000 miles but that's just me. I think it was good that you changed it to get the original factory oil out and any junk left in the motor during the assembly process. There's too many nooks and crannies in an engine to get stuff out of.
 
There is no set standard or no recommended time that one should take to switch over to synthetic, anything contrary is simply just a myth.

Except fro my first 4stroke, I've always switched after the first oil and filter change. The first sled went a couple of oil changes prior to switching. Over the course of 5 Yamaha 4 strokes, I've not had any problems. I use Amsoil 0W40. What made me switch as the hard knocking on subzero start ups, after going synthetic, those went away.
 
I went to Mobil 1 with all my four strokes on the 1st oil change.

Synthetic oil is NOT manmade oil. It's still mineral oil, just with synthetic compounds added.
