2014 rtx with around 2500 miles original starter , no kick backs , but hard starting when below 7 f on dash so I make sure nice and warm before cranking over.

1,650 miles before 2015 reflash.
1380 miles since. Once a long ride 100-150 miles get a kickback.

2014 LTX SE
1240 miles before 2015 reflash.
1650 miles since reflash. Once a day usually during initial warmup one or two backfires/kickbacks!

Well the LTX DX LOST A STARTER IN THE SPRING! So I'm sitting at 50% now!

1800 miles. No surprise with how much I turn it on/off in a days ride. It was making noise and mild kickbacks and progressively getting worse over the last few weekends of riding so I took it in.
Ah man sorry to hear that! Hope your dealer gets you back in the saddle fast!!

Wife's sled 1900K before reflash, 1300 since twice since reflash has kicked back/back fire on cold start.

My was a carry over 14 so reflash done at .5K 2100K since no issues.

I'm starting this thread because of all the discussion on the starter failures. Being a tech oriented site its natural to only see the negatives discussed. Let's see if this gives some perspective.

I want to keep this format very simple. Post if you are on your original starter.
Put year and model
Flash and miles on flash, if multiple flashes post miles on each. Also include if turbo' or fuel programmer added. Put all these separate with total miles at the bottom

Fictional example:
2014 XTX
14 flash. 1000 miles
15 reflash 600 miles
MPI turbo with gems 2000 miles
Total 3600 miles.

Check back in and update your numbers as the season goes on. Please edit your origional post, don't start a new one, that way we don't have a false appearance of good starter numbers.

I'll also attach a very simple poll to see failures to non failures. Don't post your failures or ideas for cures or the reasons for failures here. There are already threads for that and that's not the purpose of this thread. The poll has the option to change your vote in the event your starter failed during this season.

I start it as they told me Cycle key until fuel pump stops, then turn over until engine starts completely then let go of key
 
2015 Ltxdx 3100 miles, all stock and original starter even with the every now and again slight kick back on first start up after sitting a day or so.
 
2014 se hold over. 1951 miles, all is good.
