I had been looking at some of the products out there on the market(like the Rock Tamers) and was kinda shocked when I saw the price. Then I start looking at my hitch and think I can make my own. If I can save money I will always make my products. Just wonder what other have done. If you have pictures I'd like to see what you've done.

i built my own using part of the sleeve for the new 3/4-1 ton hitch witch is 2-1/2" and needs an adapter to use the 2" hitchs. used 8' chunk of 2" square tubing welded to the top of the adapter. i then made 2 3" w x 24" l x 1/4" thick peice of flat bar to weld to the top of the bar to bolt a pair of transport mud flaps onto it. i actually had to trim the flaps down about 4" on the bottom and i did not cut the top part off when i mounted the flaps in the lowest hole set on the flaps. in retrospect i should have mounted them a touch wider than the bar but it worked on my 2010 silverado. did not work on brothers 2018 ram and need to see if it works on my new 2019 f150 as it sits.

I made my own from some aluminum angle iron and rubber mud flaps. Stainless steel U bolt to attach it to the hitch. Cost me around $50.

I just wanted to show what I came up with. I have about $25 invested in this project. The rubber is hay bailer belting so its some tough stuff. I really like how it turned out and it should help a lot.
