Will I need to change chain??

Hey, I'm going to put a 23 tooth top gear on my RX1 mountian to give me 23/40 ratio. Will I need to change the chain with this setup?? What length chain is on the Mountain?? 68 or 70?

also can you add reverse with this setup??

Hi Firebird, we have used 22/38 to 26/38 with the stk chain on ER models, not 100% sure on none ER's but I would think you can go up or down a couple of teeth on the top gear with no problems.

You can find a chart of sprockets, gearing and chains at totallyamaha.com. My Mountain had 21/39 and 68L chain (with reverse) and when I changed to 24/39 I had to change to a 70L chain.
