I have a slashcut exhaust turnout on my MTX. I installed a Mountain Addictions gas rack. Today I just installed a tunnel bag under/behind the exhaust turnout.

Some people were saying that any plastic/material would still melt behind an exhaust turnout. So I added a heat shield to the top of the bag. I know it isn't the prettiest but I'm hoping it will work. And also the bag will expand upwards if required.

Do you guys think this setup will work? Will my bag be protected? Should my jerry cans be okay?

Is this even necessary?

Thanks.

I guess I should also mention I don't have the sled running yet because I'm waiting on parts or else I'd go for a rip and check it myself.

should work okay, you might want tokeep an eye on the right gas jug your first couple times out.

Looks okay to me...

where would a fella find some sweet black jugs like that?

I was just looking at that Mountain Addictions setup. How did you attach the mounting kit to your tunnel? Rivets? You think the mounting kit will withstand a good rollover?

They supply you with good sized bolts/nuts. I never thought about a roll over. That may wreck the rails if a tank gets yanked off somehow.
But if you are rolling in mostly powder it shouldn't be a problem, they're pretty robust.

Just an update, I used some BBQ high temp flat black spray paint to paint the heat wrap. Worked great, stuck well and looks a hell of a lot better.

I also put some heat reflecting tape on the fronts of the gas cans. I will add more up higher.

Not bad for a $15 bag from Wal Mart. And it folds flat when not used.

I run the same set up and never had a problem with the cans getting hot or even warm.
