Hey everyone

On the 2007 Attak, the windsheild comes back a certain amount, and im Trying to install my new Acerbis handguards with teh Acerbis mounts, but there is no way in the world that these things are going to clear the windsheild, it simply has too much overhang towards the bars. Now I just thought id mention this too, I got the 06 apex mountain riser to help with this problem, but it turns out the the 06' and 07' mountain riser blocks have the exact code, and I measured the height of the mountain against the stock attak one, and there is only 1" difference.

Im not sure what to do in this case, as Id love to have the really small sharkbite windsheild, but I want some prtection, so im looking at the blue chrome windsheild, which seems to have the same height as the stock attak one, but not the overhang. If I change the windsheild will my guards clear?

Also, thought id mention this too, Id like to put the guard mounts over the stock grips, but on the throttle side, it definately wont clear. Should I use the powermadd mount kit or which mount kit to do this, cuz Iv seen some people have their mounts like this. Or what mount kit should I use to make these guards fit, because the Acerbis ones definately are not going to work.

Thanks for any help!

Your handguards won't clear any windshield but the small "sharkbite" windshiled.

I think the Apex Mtn bars are different than the Attak bars and that is why you're not seeing that much height difference. THe '07 bars are something like an 1-1/2" higher but the difference might not be in the riser itself. I would go with a 2" Rox Pivoting Riser. Bolts easily onto stock riser. They run about $70.00 USD.

You need to make some modification to your controls to get the handguard mounts to fit properly. Cut the clips that hold the wires going into the handwarmer controls to get the mounts to fit tighter to the controls which is the flatest part of the bar. I've done thids to my '06 Attak with Yamaha's handguards. I also bent the mounting brackets down a little bit to make them more level. Hope this helps ;)!

Thanks for your reply.

Ya, I kinda figured Id have to use the sharkbite windy to make them fit, because of now, there is absolutely no way I can see them fitting.

Before posting this, I searched for all the info possible on the handguards on these sleds and it seems quite popular to cut these little plastic clips, and I noticed them when I was installing my mountain riser.

Before getting a new windsheild, Im thinking of getting that riser, on top of the mountain riser, so 3" roughly in rise, and I dont think i'll need to extend any cables, as they seems to have alot of room when I raised them tht one inch. Taking a look at the powermadd handguards on my ATV, it looks liek they could be used with the Acerbis handguards, and I could possibly mount them on top of the grips, behind the throttle, as it seems there might be enough clearance, although I know that it is tight behind the throttle lever. The reason I was thinking of mounting them from the grips is so that they stand a better chance of clearing the windsheild (theyre fairly close already), and so that the guards cover my hands better.

Just going to try a few things first before getting a new windy, as when im wearing an open face helmet, things tend to get chilly if exposed.

Thanks for your help man!, and im still open to more opinions everyone!
