Wondering why?

These are a must on a phazer mnt. if you ride in deep snow at all. I used to have to carry around a club in my tool box to knock the snow/ice build up on my 07 mnt. lite. These sled are really bad with ice build up because of snow melt draining down the tunnel from exhaust onto running boards. Not to mention if u use your hands to remove the snow your gloves end up being soaked after first removal. NOW i can just kick it through the holes. GLORIOUS! I will say you do get spray up through the holes when skipping water or overflow but thats what the velcro strap on the ridding pants are for. :)[/quote]

I see your point about preventing snow/ice build-up on the boards. However, won't the running boards with this open design cause drag when going through deep snow (i.e. the snow will come up through the boards rather than the boards riding on the snow and helping with flotation)?

No. I have never had snow come up through the boards. But I also have simmons gen 2 skis and a 151 track so I dont submarine through the snow. It also adds strength to the boards giving it a more solid feel, and better traction for your feet. My feet never slip off anymore like they used to...

sounds like a good setup... too bad they are not available for the VLite.

I have another brand of boards on my dragon but same concept. Work great in powder! Only time I have anything come up through is on the trail with my scratchers down. Will b adding these to wifes phazer soon!!

A MUST have!
Wondering why? I'm not familiar with the Phazer Mtn so maybe it already has open running boards. Other than being cool looking, what is the big attraction for these? It seems that they would cause a problem with lots of snow/slush/ice getting on your boots, etc.

Yes they do look cool. But the function is the big attraction for any of our running boards. If you ride deep snow of any type the snow build up on the boards is easily kicked through the WRP board rather than having to kick it off the board. We have done comparison riding on all of our models with and without the boards and some say that it is the best and easiest mod you can do to your sled.

Thanks for your input!!!
