XTX. Star kit. ?

How is the stock CK XTX on smooth trails?

I do not tend to pound the rough stuff any more. Just roll through now.

Does the Star help on the smoother trails? or is stock just fine on groomed?

I am old enough to slow down to take the energy out of the really rough but looking for plush high speed cruiser when trails are used but not trashed.

Thanks Guys

Not as good as your Vector LTX GT was but not too bad.
Important to have the right springs for your body weight.
Transfers great.

Stock is great, The star kit relocate's the inside front bogey wheels and changes the front shock angle and add's transfer to the rear.

Thanks Teamblue4

Well guys I thank you all.

I called Star and spoke to an employee -apparently Robert was away, who answered all my ?'s knowledgably and I plan to go with them for re-valve, re spring, kit and front ski shock re-valve -- all in.

Decided to call my upgrades i.e. summer/fall sled work the triple S. Star ; Studs- 3 per row of 1.4 Extreme Max's with round backers & Snow tracker extremes. She should accelerate, ride and turn like a dream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should be a summer full of fun and SNOW anticipation.

Thanks again.

So how much does it cost to do all that? I've been thinking about the same thing for my 12 xtx. I feel the sled rides and handles great on decent trails but on the rough stuff the sled just beats and bucks the hell out of me.

It is all on the website. He reminded me that is Canadian $ and will be less USA.

With out doing the precise math was going to be around 500 Canadian - I think it was 300 for kit 60-80 bucks for each shock valved and sprung for my weight and riding style goals.

Hope that helps. I just want it to be the Best I can make it as I hope to put on many years and miles.

How hard is it to install this kit and adjust ? Does anybody know of a dealer In the Northeast that does it. I think I can do it but I don't have the time.

Northeast is pretty big area. What state are you talking?

Its not that hard to install the kit, straight forward twisting wrenches and drilling a couple new holes! Took me an afternoon removing the skid installing the kit new duponts and inspecting/replacing bearings in the skid and back in the sled. A dealer could do it for you but shop labor would double the price of the kit.

Is that with the heavier front shock spring? I ran the front straps in the stock holes the first year and it would lift the front end all the time and not put it down till past 70mph, I know stock it lifted the front but way easier with the kit.

This last winter I pulled the straps up one and it kept the front down a lot better. I also bought the 5 position blocks for the rear springs and found I ran them on the 5th position all the time with my weight so I went to the 1,900 springs from the stock 1,500 springs. The difference was I never went past the 3rd or stock highest position even with luggage. I don't think you are near my weight so the stock rears should be perfect for you. I've broken so many of the plastic adjuster blocks I'm always looking for the aluminum ones a bit pricey but worth it I think no more broken blocks trying to adjust on the trail. I must have 5,000 miles on this kit and its holding up well!

i installed the star kit last fall along with their rear shock rebuild. it does take the small junk better but i still have the 3 to 4" sag. After the install it only had a 1" sag after sitting on it but now it's gotten back to what it was before. i'm going to have to call Star and find out what's going on. wondering if anyone else had this as well and what the solution was.

mine sat back up when @cannondale rebuilt my center shock

Charley I will have them add the spring for the front skid shock and the aluminum block now that I hear the plastic ones can break. Thanks. I have not got back up to the lake to mail your 'wings yet' I doubt you needed them with temps in the 60- 70s F.
