2013 XTX with oem ripsaw track
Set it up last year with the Star linkage kit with their revalved shocks
Running Curve skis with 6in single carbides
Trail riding hardpack ...sometimes really hardpack...sometimes frozen dirt and ice :)

Plan on studding only between the rails.
Will be using Woodys goldiggers with their premium round aluminum backers

obviously going with a min of 2 studs per bar....
Wondering if 3 per bar is too much...maybe alternate 2 per bar/3 per bar

Also the XTX looks like it has decent oem protectors ( icecollectors :)) in place...anything else needed??

Thanks

I run 4 Studs per section.

the protectors are good but the are mounted bad they can collapse and allow the studs to hit the exup. do a search or call kevin at port Yamaha. you need to add support to the mounts to prevent damage. I ran a pre-studded and it was plenty for me so I would do lees as you can always add more.

Same exact sled 13 Apex -XTX144 x 1.25 Ripsaw - new to me.

I am going 3 - 1.4 Extreme max studs per bar, have had this on 06 Apex and 4 other sleds since then and for Mn icy hard pack trails I/we have been very pleased with the pattern the studs and track. I Know the deeper snow boys aren't ripsaw fans but in Mn on trail it works great.
I hope the snow is so deep this year I think I need a deeper lug track. Lol
I do standard V down the middle avoiding the center to not rub the shock and the alternate left/ right on outside.
Will be 171 studs on this 144/57 bar track. I will be beefing up the Tunnel protector supports so they don't crush down loosing height.
To date have not had any issues with pull throughs, bent studs or premature track failure- last Apex I studded like this went >10 k miles before replaced the track with this set up.
My 2 cents
