I have a 2008 apex ltx gt. I had a nytro xtx. I think I made a mistake by trading without getting my suspension setup and putting decent skis on it. I ride Houghton/Hancock area on trail most of the time. I am 6'2" and weigh 320. Any comments would be appreciated. :yam: :o|

It's a bit late to ask for opinions now don't you think? Unless you ride flawless groomed trails 100% of the time you are gonna be upset.

What was it that you didn't like about the XTX?

I don't think you will be upset, Don't get me wrong I love my XTX, but on the trail My Attak was pretty hard to beat. get yourself the big boy spring for the mono and have fun. If you don't do too much off trail or hitting the bumps then you have probably made the right change.

re

I rode the xtx with the stock setup right out of the crate and it darted like crazy. It pushed through corners and was a little tippy. I agree it was hasty, but it's never too late. My dealer has a 2010 black xtx with my name on it if I want it and I have since purchased a set of powderhounds and 8" bergstroms with ski savers. I think, from what I read from allof you, that I will love that setup on an xtx. I like my apex but really miss the rider forward aggressive style on the nytro. I rode one at the end of the season that was setup nice and no way my apex keeps up.

Trade it.. Get the Black Beauty...

I traded her today for a "black beauty". I love the looks of my apex but am growing a little tired of the hurry up and wait. :-o

Cool, post some pics..

Well my .02 is it depends on what style of rider you are. I rode several XTX's and for my style was not impressed. The forward position puts all the engine and body weight out over the skis and a lot of unloaded track behind you. I put one off into the trees and was not going that fast it just lifted the inside ski and pushed the front end, when i left off to let the transfer get a bite the back end just snapped sideways and away I went. I can run that same corner on my 05 at 30 mph faster and never break a sweat.

They are very difficult to dial in for good trail. I did like the play time better on this than the FX but my style is 80% faaaaast trail and 20% play pen. Then again you have to play hurry up and wait for your buddies. But that is when I get a chance to appreciate nature.

My Attack last year in the UP could handle all of the play pens and only stuck 3 or 4 times in the deep stuff - same as 2 buddies on 144 polaris sleds.

They are cold and long 300 to 500 mile rides in my opinion at
-20 are out of the question even with deflectors and taller shield.

In closing if you like speed nothing will keep up with a properly setup RX, Apex or Attack.

2008 apex ltx gt was best of class with ohlins. I rode my 2007 Attack about 125 miles to Pat's then jumped on XTX demo for a spin & hated it. I thought 121 Nytro was a blast at Factory ride but my Attack was not there for comparison. Xtx did a lot better off trail than my Attack but most of my riding is on trail. Sometines sled opinions are clouded by your mood at the time at least that is the way I saw it.

re

I won't pick it up until November but can hardly wait. My 08 40th can be purchased at M&M powersports in Houghton, MI if anyone is interested.
