I purchased a Trunk https://www.shopyamaha.com/product/details/yamaha-combination-trunk-bag?dealernumber=&ri=true bag used (the one that has a large center compartment and two side saddlebags). It didn't come with any mounting hardware, but I didn't think I'd need it since my RTX-DX already had the plastic spools on the sides of the tunnel for the standard DX bag.

My problem is that I can't latch the non-adjustable front straps on the spools that are already on my sled. It's like they are too far forward on the sled, but all other pictures that I look at appear to have them in the same place - just rear of the rivet joint between front and rear half of tunnel.

Can anyone tell me if the bag I bought was supposed to come with new spools so that I'd end up mounting two sets on my sled? It would be even better if someone has installation instructions for the Combination Trunk Bag that they could post.

ksiesel, I got new spools with my tunnel saddle bag trunk combo when I purchased mine from the Yamaha dealer.

OK, I played with it a bit more and I managed to get all the hooks attached. I had to pull up on the rear of the fuel tank while pulling the bag under part of it at the back. Here are some pictures to show how it's mounted using the stock spool location from the RTX-DX.

It does slightly lay on the tail light at the rear too. Seems like the bag is a bit large for the sled. I also found I had to do something to the seat latch to protect the bag otherwise I'm sure it would easily wear a hole in the front of the bag. That one was pretty stupid on Yamaha's part, but they still haven't corrected it even on the new SW.

The last one is just to show how much larger this bag is than the standard DX bag.

Some times I find it very hard to hook the saddle bags onto the running boards and I end up installing the saddle bags empty and then loading them up, makes for cold hands in the mornings. All depends how much stuff that your bringing but usually I put all my clothing in dry bags in the saddle parts and all the other bulky items in the trunk part.
