Swingle Racing (based out of the Wasilla, AK area) is at the Soo I-500 this week. They've got one practice session in (I think 6 laps around the track total). They left Wasilla last Tuesday and drove to our shop in Menno, SD. They got here Friday morning. We spent about 30 hours on the chassis dyno fine tuning air fuel ratio, ignition timing, and dialing in 5 different clutching setups. They then left here to head towards Sault Ste Marie! Good luck to them this week & weekend!

A little information on the sled:
-2022 Sidewinder SRX chassis
-2018 SR Viper 1049 engine (custom intake to fit into the Sidewinder frame work with Schmidt Bros cold air kit for SR Viper, Straightline Performance Inc header, custom Schmidt Bros muffler, Ulmer Racing throttle bodies & engine work)
-Larger oil tank and oil tank is relocated off of the chaincase
-Trail tank larger capacity fuel tank
-Custom spindles & a-arms
-14" Hacksaw track
-Custom jackshaft & driveshaft
-Custom brake caliper & brake rotor
-Clutches were setup with a combination of parts (Ulmer Racing clutch kit using Sidewinder roller secondary & Thunder Products clutch kit using SR Viper button secondary)

They need to get around the track quicker to make the race.
Watching qualifying on flo sports.

Definitely struggling a little with the conditions! They get 2 more cracks at it tomorrow!

What was their average mph so far. ? Iam sure the conditions are ridiculously bad since it was raining there Tuesday…
The fastest I think they've gone was a 44.0 time @ 82 mph average. They are struggling a little with straight away speed, they've got one more chance tonight to get into the show. I think currently they sit 40th and only the top 38 get into the race for Saturday.

It appears they are trying to qualify using their race set up or sled as built for race.. Most other teams have a qualifying set up thats lightweight and they change it back to their actual race set up…. If this is the case, they are at a very big disadvantage to get in the race …..

They were trying to qualify in "race trim", yes. As it looks right now, they'll get in as some teams can't make the call. They should start 37th!

If they qualified in race trim they should be OK, I bet most teams were running a qualifying set up.

Looks like fun.
Does it have power steering on it?

Hey thats great they got into the show.. Now if they can make it last and keep some consistent speed they should do ok and hopefully be there at end where it counts… Go Yamaha ……

No power steering, we did chat about it a few times, but ultimately were already fighting a 70-75 lbs weight disadvantadge.

In the last practice session pretty much all teams were in race trim. The fastest were running 105-106 mph and the slowest 99-100. The Viper was in that 101-103 range consistantly.
