Good enough with my taped together prototype...?horkn said:I want to see an akrapovic pipe set on a nytro.
The welding is ready since long, but unfortunately I lost a lot of time waiting for the silencer bracket...
My goal is to get it in before the end of the season.

The Yosh Ti RS5 is working great on mine. About 4000 kms on it and she's all good.

Here is my my... tunnel dump using a jardine pignose muffler. It is ti and off of the cbr series
I had to mod the stock header. This was the hardest part. I didn't want to buy one (couldn't find any used (nikolai is a lucky bastage, lol) , as I am going to build one this summer, but in the end it worked out good, just took for ever getting it lined up correctly.
My seat mounts. Built out of .030 cromoly, and .09 for the base. The two mounts are tied together with the exhaust mount to form one complete mount. It is really strong.
I am planning on using the split output and run the exhaust out the sides. I haven't gotten that far yet, it just dumps straight back in the tunnel, but it might get done this week.

This is the master plan.
Or maybe too much of this....
Not sure if it will be a luke warm dogger or what. I do know that it gets hot enough at idle to burn welding gloves after 5 minutes...lol. I will be making a shield and another mount for the rear section to keep it from tweeking on the muffler too much.
I have to build a door to access it from the top, and I have a skidoo gas can that will fit over it perfectly too.... Yah, I thought about this for way too long, especially for how far I have gotten.

Make sure you watch the tightness of your track with an undertunnel exhaust, I had mine a little loose, and on acceleration, she tore up my new Hauk header with the studs. EVEN with tunnel protectors! They think it was loose, and I accelerated all the way over a bump or mound, and when she landed the track was ballooned and spinning 100% and ate through the 3-1. Ouch! pricey mistake on my part.

The Akrapovic unit has been installed and ridden for 300 kilometers.
Seems to cause 200-300 rpm more on top (damn, more clutch work needed...). Zero fueling glitches, even though the PCIII is not yet installed. Sweet sound. Not loud at all at low and mid throttle openings (the silencer is Superbike legal, ffs...) but...well...noticeable at full...And the best part - the weight is 1.6 kilograms (3.5 lbs) in total including all brackets...!
Built from a cut-apart, shortened, re-angeled and re-welded titanium / carbon Evolution system from a 2006-2007 CBR1000RR.

I just can't seem to understand why everyone would put these pipes on when I don't believe these things are actually made for the Nytro motors? Are we assuming it's just going to make power? Help me understand this....

The pipe and silencer that I am using is for sure not "made for the Nytro motor", but for me this is no issue at all. In fact, I do not even like to use the terminology that a pipe and silencer "have to be made" for a specific engine. For instance, a lot of motorcycle exhaust manufacturers use the same silencer for several models ranging from 600cc to more than 1000 cc. The differences between their different exhaust systems are found in the primary pipes and the collectors that are tuned for specific displacements and rpms.SledFreak said:I just can't seem to understand why everyone would put these pipes on when I don't believe these things are actually made for the Nytro motors? My impression is that most good sportbike silencers will improve the top rpm horsepower when installed in the FX Nytro, simply because they are less restrictive. A good proof is that I (and others) have noticed about increased top rpm even though the clutching is still the same. This would for sure not happen if the power was same or less. And if the length, diameter and other tuning variables are not fukked up completely, my impression is that they will also keep the low- and midrange very close to stock spec.
However, more power is not the reason for my exhaust. My only reason is the quite considerable weight loss. Added power and improved looks is just a bonus.
