I'm gonna stud my sled, LTX SE. How many studs is anyone using 96-144? What pattern are you guys running? It looks to me that some stud heads could interfear with the raised portions against the boggie wheels on the rip saw 2. I don't want to go over board and make it push in the corners.

I am running 144 1.375 up the middle in a V pattern. The LTX=SE with the 137 is actually the same number of windows as a 121 track. The difference is the stretched windows.

Everyone is different , but I have the 129 with 90 studs with 6" on skis but I'm thinking about taking some studs out like every other one so that would be 45 just need them for braking , sled just feels to tight to me , I liked it better with no studs seemed more fun to ride

Went with 2 per bar in the flying V pattern

I went with 160 1.5" studs in a v pattern up the middle then every other outside lug in an alternating patter. Traction is very important to me as I do a fair share of drag racing. For trail riding it's certainly over kill but I have 6" studboy deuce bars and I have no push in the corners. On a good hard pack where the studs can penetrate the sled does not spin. That's the biggest thing for me!

I have always been happy with Fast-Trac studs and backers on my previous Yamaha's so if I stud my '15 RTX-DX I will be going with the Fast-Trac Top Gun II's or the Fast-Trac SP's in the 1.375" length.
(I already posted on another thread in this forum that pertains to using single ply studs on this track so I will limit my questions in this post specifically to the pattern.)
Fast-Trac recommends 135 studs which works out to three per "lug" on the 129" track. I am inclined to follow that advice and keep all of the studs in the middle of the track. Every stud tear out that I have ever had in the past was a stud on the outer edges of the track so I am going to stay between the rails this time.
So guys, what sort of a pattern is best for three studs per lug staying between the rails. I am assuming that it will involve using both single and double backers?
Thanks in advance for sharing your opinions and insight with me.!

I went with 144 up the middle and that hooked up great, no issues. Now that I am turboed this year, I will be adding about 48 more, probably 24 on each side parallel with the single backers. Rule of thumb is one pic per HP......I'm gonna stud my sled, LTX SE. How many studs is anyone using 96-144? What pattern are you guys running? haven't done it yet but I'm planning on doing 96 studs on my ltx se with the rip saw II. Four studs every other rib in a v pattern with double backers. can always do more if I need to but i definitely wanted to go with double backers. had too much trouble with tear outs on my apex thinking because it has so much torque, and I'm going to be in the same boat with this turbo viper. Love the extra traction though

I like your pattern! Of course you have a 137" track so I will need less studs to achieve the same thing. I was thinking three per window but now after seeing yours I am wondering about alternating two & four. However the issue is that the 129" track has an odd number of windows at 45. This results in the two & four pattern ending up being identical on two adjacent windows somewhere on the track. (I would have to use either 23 x2 + 22 x4 = 134 or 22 x2 + 23 x4 = 136)
Because I have severe OCD I couldn't sleep at night if I did that! LOL! So I am back to three per window. I need a pattern that repeats every fifth window (instead of the usual fourth window) so that I can have nine identical repeating patterns on this 45 window track.
Where can I find a drawing of a good three per window between the rails pattern that has the most scratch lines, repeats every ninth window, and that is perfectly balanced?

I did the same 144 pattern on my 2006 APEX GT and liked it without any pullouts (2 seasons) but they were also up the middle. Still debating the added pics on the sides but I don't think 144 will be enough with the added HPhaven't done it yet but I'm planning on doing 96 studs on my ltx se with the rip saw II. What do you guys think of this for the 129" (45 window) track? A simple V pattern that stays within the rails that repeats evenly 9 times on this track. It is only 90 studs total but it has 10 scratch lines.
Does it matter which way the V is oriented with relation to track rotation? I am thinking not. If so, which way is best and why?

If you run them up the middle, you are limited to 90 studs with 2 per window on the 129 track to remain balanced or 3 per window for 135 studs. Here is a PDF on a pattern with the best scratch running 3 each up the middle for you to view....I like your pattern! Thanks! I think I need to have 135 studs rather than 90. The 129" 135 stud pattern in your PDF looks like it repeats every sixth window which does not divide evenly into 45 which confuses me.
I sketched up this one which is a modified V pattern using single and double backers. On paper it looks like it could potentially have 15 scratch lines but in reality there may be some overlap if there is not enough room in the middle to space all fifteen studs on a different scratch line. At first glance it might be 13 scratch lines as the two doubles on each side may have a scratch line overlap as shown in the two dotted lines.
