Iron Dog Vipers! Team 3

How different will the race sled be from the practice sled?

Good luck to them!

Oh yea, does that thing have some storage in the back of the seat?

Yes the back seat does have a storage compartment , along with a lot more places. These sleds are stripped all the way down and built back up to ensure they can not only handle the beating they are about to see but also to maximize storage and the harshest conditions you can imagine with safety in mind.

The practice sleds are test mules for the race sleds. They take them out and put as many miles on them as they possible can in hopes to find what will break and what won't to ensure the race sleds have the best chance of running it without breaking or having issues. The practice sleds will have 2-3k miles on it before they even start the race on the race sleds, and the race sleds will have 2k miles put on during the race. So far these vipers have proved to not on be fast, but also smooth and very reliable with only minor fixes needed which is huge for us and we are very confident going into the race.

It's the RTX viper. We are having very bad luck with snow conditions this year as it's been in the 40's across the state which has dwindled or snow depths drastically. Some sections of the race don't have any snow at all right now so it will be interesting to see what happens in the next two weeks before the start. Two years ago there was so much snow half the teams barely made the first few check points on the first day! It's ever changing which makes this race so unique, you have to plan for everything because it's never the same.

Good luck!

Do you have any special plans for the no snow sections? I remember reading a few years back where a Nytro team lost a bunch of time and hurt a motor from overheating. Something about the four strokes taking much longer to cool down than two strokes once they overheat.

Hey, that's what I expect from the manufacturers before releasing a sled to the public at large! Wouldn't it be cool if all sleds had to complete an iron dog run in a minimum (class based) time to be certified as fit for sale...

This is no Sunday cruise or trail ride, If any sled could make the whole trip with
Out breaking something I would be astonished.

As for the lack of snow we have made adjustments to accommodate such situations. Should find out in the next day or two how they work out.
