I know the MTX has 3 pitch drivers but are they smaller then the fx to fit the bigger track or is the chaincase in a different location?

Are you talking about the base FX Nytro compared to the FX Nytro MTX?
Or maybe the FX Phazer?
Or maybe the FX Phazer?

Sure am, just curious , after seeing the track to front exchanger clearance on the nitro fx I'm worried about putting a big track on it without changing drivers.

If yamaha has done as in the past; the non mtn sleds have 9 tooth 2.52" pitch drivers. The 3" pitch drivers are 7 tooth if memory serves correctly whish is about the same diameter as the 8 tooth 2.52" pitch drivers Yamaha used prior to introduction of the 3" pitch tracks (stock on my '03 RX-1mtn).
I could be wrong; if so, somebody that has the right info tell me to STFU .
If my info is correct I hope this helps you some.
