Even the crank case #'s are different for both motors.

Well that tells us that the problem with the starters are not the starter causing it, because Yamaha knows the problem exist and they wouldn't put it in the new motor in multiple machines if it was faulty.

This is straight from the sticker off the rear of tunnel of a 2016 LTX-LE. Date mfg. 08/2015, then,Engine family , GYMXY1.05TR4, GYMXPP203BS1, GYMXPP201TS1.

I don't know why everyone is getting bent out of shape over this. You were never told you were getting a redesigned engine. Some of the late builds seem to be getting them, probably because they ran out of the "old" engine and didn't have a choice. I'm betting they are trying to keep the numbers low just in case there is an issue with the manufacturing process that causes issues. I believe this is why they were only supposed to put it in the vector this year. Same thing skidoo did with the 800R in 07, only offering it in the mountain machines. Personally I would never buy a first year product. You never know what problems you'll have. Let someone else be the ginnie pig. Remember the 1100T Cat or even worse the 900 Poo? That mess almost put Polaris out of the snowmobile business all together.

Really? Then why didn't they do same for YXZ?

Can't mention engine blunders without mentioning 1982 Yamaha SRX, were recalled and engines smashed.

I dont know guys. I have been looking at 16 Vector Service manual and to me it looks like head,Valvecover, and adjuster are different but bottom end is same. Starter part numbers are same. Kinda thinking I dont know what this motor is. If manual is right it definitly is not a YXZ motor but kind of a mix of parts. This is the rods.

What a circus!!

First phone call of the day is too the dealer " there is no new engine , its still the nytro engine"
i said ok check the parts fish for part numbers from 15 compared to 16...... " o... wow they are different". soo the dealer call yamaha , they tell him the only changes are to the case and valve cover ( total bs).
the dealer gave me the same number he called, so i called. 1 hour later after fighting that there even is an engine change, he directs me to the " snomobile tech expert"

the tech tells me there is a change to the whole engine (like we already know). he then tells me there is no change to the power and the new design is only made so that yamaha has a more versitile engine block. the change is not to fix the starter issue, which we are still waiting for a reflash from japan.
then he says " you dont want the new engine anyway, its heavier."
the fineprint says "subject to change at anytime". so i have no leg to stand on for asking for a 2016 engine in my 2016.

My 16 Viper MTX has mfg date 05/2015. But havent checked if it has the new engine or not. Any easy way to check? Wont get home until the weekend, and will check asap then.

The valve cover is all black on the new one. The old style like my sled has and aluminum color cover

On my 16 Mtx date 05/2015, the top is aluminum but has a shape like the black one. New or old?
