2008 yamaha nytro mtx mcx 270
Hello. i just love my nytro now but i need new front shocks. I want some shocks that can be set soft but still be able to take big hits. Any tips on what shocks i should get? i don't want the most expensive either but they have to be better then the oem shocks. I have a nytro mtx 2008 with oem front shocks now.
I don't want floats, i don't like them because we have -20celsius one day and +10 the other thru the winter so it won't work good here.

You should really reconsider the Floats. Especially the EVOL R We personally think they are fantastic psi is affected by temperature 100% but only 1psi per 10F your only looking at like less than a 5 psi from such a dramatic temp change (-20 to +10 C)

I believe the 2008 nytro shocks are 17.5 C to C You don't have too many options for shocks for the nytro when you eliminate the Float shocks. I was not a big fan of the floats on my 08 but i had the original ones and could never really tune them very well. I have heard a lot people like Elka, Rapter, and Exit shocks for the Nytro. Talk to Rick at OFT about Elka's talk to Z-bros for Exit and Talk with Kevin with K-mod for Rapters. All great guys and very knowledgeable about the nytro. I have a set of Exit shocks i put in for this season be we did not have a season and never made it out around my area .

I do like coil overs the best since i want a shock that i can put a spring like this on: http://www.raptorshocks.com/store/products.php?product=Triple-Rate-Springs-(Ski)-
I se they don't have it for option on the nytro but i will send them an e-mail and ask if they can make it work on the nytro.
I like a soft shock for playing in the trees but i want it to be stiff when i jump or ride hard up a hill or on the trail.

taking nothing away from FOX Floats here but I agree the coil over shocks are easier to tune for a particular riding style. That is a picture of Raptor triple rate spring. This quote is taken off of K-mods site under the yamaha sub-header "100% billet parts, 5/8 nitride shafts, one piece triple rate springs, spherical bearings, (RAP) rapid adjust preload and synthetic fluid just to name a few!" So I am not sure you if you talked with someone that said it wasn't an option for the Nytro but it appears to me that you can get them for the nytro. I know that Exit has a true 3 stage coil on their shocks..

Does anyone know if you can put shocks that were on a 2014 arctic cat XF 9000 high country onto the Yamaha nytro? Is there different fittings or anything? They are fox float 3's.

Call hygear they have axis shocks that are a quality piece and sprung and valves to your needs as you order. They told me snowmobiles don't benefit from triple rate springs like other vehicles might. Don't remember reason as their spring specialist was out at a expo and sales guy wasn't sure. but def the experience to make your shocks and variety of them to choose from at several price ranges
