On a ride yesterday on my 2009 Venture Multipurpose. A rear idler wheel (drivers side lol) fell off and the person behind me stopped and picked it up.

The retaining nut is still there. How do I fix this? Is the wheel and bearing all one assembly? Is there a ring clip? The collar and washer behind the idler wheel is long gone. Looks like that rear idler wheel is the same used on a bucketload of Yamahas over last 20 years. Advice?

If you order the accessory part number the bearing is replaceable.

If the bearing completely fails and disintegrates the wheel, washer and spacer will indeed go for a ride. There’s nothing to stop that from happening. I’ve seen it more than once when skid maintenance has been ignored.

i would suggest replacing all the rear axle wheel bearings/wheel while you are in there as the other ones are usually close to failure as well.
