I'll say!
Beauty job
Thanks! My friend is super happy how the sled turned out - and nothing feels better when helping out. The bad part is that those running boards were ment for my own project sled - LOL!

And now the rat sled is for sale. Nice sled..
I know :-( But he is building a new house this summer and need the funds. That is one clean looking sled for sale ;-)
Well since I sold the Rapex I bought myself a trailseld. I pickup an Apex warrior last winter. Strange feeling driving a 136" sled with no lugs after years with 162" and boosted. I got stuck where ever I went outside the trail if you did not go WOT alll the time.
I did some mods to the sled during the summer - I feel it is the perferct trail sled now for our condition up north here in Norway. I installed 144" and 1.75" lugs, BRP 9 teeth extrovert drivers, 21/38 gearing, super tip clutch weight, Handlebar riser from lake effetc, mountain seat (firmer foam), fox float in the front and a mega float in the rear suspension.
I pull the a-arms and supension - had them glass blasted an repainted black. I also changed out the seat cover and steering blocks were changed out with the alumunium ones with oilite bushings. All ball bearings in drive line and suspension were changed out.
I have a built a rear tunnel ext., but have not hade time to install it yet. I might looking into installing ratsled borads like we did on my friends sled.
I think this will be a keeper It might get some breathing help in the future (I have a 19T on the shelf collecting dust )

Nice. is it an 06 model?
'06 with only 3200km! Did you see the RX-1 Warrior sticker on the side shroud?
why the hell does it say rx warrior
The Apex Attak was called/named RX warrior in Norway in '06. So it is OEM stickers

no, but the colour and stickers were the same as mine was back in the day..
I like how the Lake effect riser keep the OEM plastic crome ring and with the intergrated RAM ball for the GPS - super easy to remove and adjust to what ever position you want it.
Only think they should have done is to CNC some groves/splines to the handle bare riser and T-style riser. That way there would be no possibility for the riser to slide back or forward. I have not had any problems with it so far, but that would put a good product over the top! They should have done like this on the T-riser:
The new Dupont slider looks to work flawless vs. old sliders. We are at the end off the season and the river near my cottage is only covered with ice. No problem so far and I am only runing cable ice ripes on the front end. When I re painted the rear suspension - all bushings and idler wheels were changed out to the new style ones - finally I have the possibility to change out ball bearings when needed. Front ned also got new oilite bushings from Ulmer racing. With the new front end bushings and steering block bushings - sled feels like new
I got a SUPER deal on the Mega float (some one order the wrong one) so I had to give it a try. That thing is HUGE. It looks like a baseball bat to be honest. I have it pumped up to 165 PSI with no load on the suspension - I have yet to bottom out with it. That is good for our trail, because they are not groomed - more llike a mogel trail
An other think that was upgraded was to install a bigger rear heat exchanger - the sled only came with the crossover tube when I bought it.
Only thing left to do is the rear tunnel extension. But before installing it I will re-weld the rear heat exchanger like this. I did this on my old sled and it work perfectly
I hope to leave this sled alone and no more upgrades after beeing done with the tunnel extension - I LOVE this sled after the personal mods done to fit my riding style. I personally feel this is the BEST turnkey trouble free high mile sled ever made in the industry! KUDOS to Yamaha

nice. where did you get that cooler? Is it only the 06 models that have that ignition key?
Suspension parts defenetly needed glass blasting and new paint! The Yamaha mountain suspension that I am used to work on did not have rust issues like the mono suspension :-(
Just some pics of the rear tunnel ext beeing built. It is made out of 2mm aluminium sheet - alot stronger than the OEM extension
The small lip will be rivited just like on CR-Racing tunnel ext. I just have to wet sand it and polish it before installing it to the sled. Just a pic to show you how

Only '06 models had that key I think they stopped producing them - if you slid forward your knee would brake the key.
It is a normal OEM warrior/attak/ltx rear heat exchanger. I just had it re-welded to fit the new extension that had the same level/line as the main tunnel. OEM tunnel ext. sits lower on the warrior/attak/ltx. Bad construction that does not let the snow to evacuate out of the tunnel in POW conditions. It is not like your apex mountain/mtx where it is already leveled tunnel extension.
I re-welded the same heat exchanger on the Apex mountain tunnel, but a little different on the outlets to fit the OEM running board heat exchangers. Way better cooling than the OEM crossover tube on the mountain/mtx version. It was needed cooling when I had the 162" and turbo - since I did quit a bit of f you have the turbo trail riding over longer distances.
These running board supports will be installed soon. I just have to cut a thin aluminium sheet with the same profile as the running board support's sides. That way it will nice and cover up the hole in the tunnel where the turning nub for the old shock was.
So it will look like this after installed
