I'd be curious. do you kinda know where the sound is coming? front under tank out back?
just a thought, might be from the snow on heat exchanger underneath melting??
I'd make her test ride it first. She may not be comfortable as to how much rider input is needed to get the handle of it.
takes a little to get used to at first. But can be set up for the rider like any.
it's always going to lean forward when you let off the throttle. but clutching helps this. as well as tinkering with the secondary for backshifting as ruggy stated above. set up the shocks to the rider or get them valved for her. maybe try soft setting.
as for getting buried, ditch the stock...
i'd just extend it if i were you. it's simple enough, for some i guess...
i have oft extensions and a 1.75" track. absolutely love it.
i have the 17t mtx gear in it vs. the stock gt 20t. i don't care about speed. more fun in the twistys, ditches and off trail.
i would make sure carbides are good. Don't set the front shocks too soft, making it more tippy for her. I'd set them in middle of spec. Because when you left off going into corners it nose dives and may lean to much for her. (Depending on riding style)
Also if there is a sway bar on it still...
Like said above shocks and track is only difference.
Plus windscreen size is larger on gt. Also gt has 20t top gear vs. 18t on fx.
You can pick them up for a decent price these days. I'm still amazed at how little people are giving these away for. Around by me it's about same price as a 2004...
Yeah there really isn't a yamaha dealer around up in this area. Trackside in e.r. But they push everything else and are big $. They're a last resort for me.
You have r & r for the cats and halsstron? for the doo's & poo's.
Ryden marine is starting to compete.
So it's running now? And you say codes are gone?
Just wonder if the ecu is acting up? Since after the wire shorted it out, maybe it's internal? I've not heard of this and again I'm just throwing thoughts out there.
