Hey all,

My 09 Nytro is leaking gas when it sits for a while. I topped the sled off , rode 25 miles with only 1 bar on the gas guage missing. The sled sat for about 5 hours and when moved i noticed a large gas puddle in the snow, with only 2-3 bars remaining on the gas gauge. Any certain areas along the fuel lines/ fuel pump to check later on when i take the machine apart? I have a trail tank installed on it as well, and the sled gave me no trouble last season. Thanks guys,

Al

Where does it smell like its coming from? The engine compartment or under the seat?

Not exactly sure. It looked as if the leak was directly under the skid plate in front of the track. Is a certain smell given off whether it leaks from under the seat or engine compartment?

Will do. If the tank in fact has rubbed through, is there a quick temporary fix for it until i could get a new tank?

Check your vent line
It is located up high and could come loose letting gas slosh around

But based on you description it sounds like something else

Check the fuel pump flange on tank mine leaked there. If its leaking there pull pump and use some permatex or silicone gasket maker that is fuel resistant and let it sit overnight before using.

Thanks for the replies guys. I rode A little bit this weekened with neary a drop of leaked fuel showing while the sled was sitting. Seems to me the leak has slowed down somehow, but I will tear it down when I have some free time on Tuesday and report what I find. Thanks again,

Al

Wife had a fuel leak with trail tank on her '09 XTX, it turned out to be the rubber gasket for fuel pump dried up and got brittle.
Really don't want to mess around riding it much with fuel leaking, especially with a hot exhaust pipe under it.

It Looks as if the trail tank itself is leaking at a seam. I will take and post pictures to get your opinions. If so, looks like a new tank is in order

The leak appears to be at the bottom of the tank behind the secondary clutch. The 4th picture is one of the interior of the tank. Circled is what i think appears to be some sort of warp where i think the leak is. The sled is going to the shop so i can get a concrete answer and solution to the problem.
