2015 guiding new riders with Antrim County Snowmobile Club

Guiding first time snowmobilers on their first rides February 2015. One couple is from Louisiana, moved to Michigan in August, and stated this was the most fun they have had with any of the winter sports they have tried. I think they are in the market for snowmobiles!
A business owner from down state brought his managers and their family's up to Shanty Creek skiing and snowmobiling after spending a week strategizing their business plan for the upcoming year.

The young couple in this group moved to Michigan in August from Louisiana, so this is their first year ever seeing snow. They have tried every winter sport that you can experience in Michigan except dog sledding. As you can see in the previous picture I was running at the back of the group and the young lady was directly in front of me in line.

We started at the Mancelona Motel and the rode to the Antrim County Snowmobile Clubhouse a 4-5 mile jaunt where we insure everyone is comfortable and warm with their equipment. The young lady started out slow about 10-15 MPH, but by the time we got to the Clubhouse she was riding 40 MPH. They rode for about 2 hours total and about 3/4 of the way through the ride, during our last break, she stated that this is the most fun of all the winter sport that they tried and said she was going to buy her husband a snowmobile in the next week, hoping that he would then buy her one!

The trails were pretty beat that weekend due to low snow but this young lady, who started out as a timid novice, hammered those moguls like a master. By the end of the ride she was pushing the guys! As we were saying our good byes she thanked me for staying behind her at the beginning because it gave her time to get used to the sled and she didn't have to worry about being left behind. I explained that we always setup with one of our people at the back of the group. Their primary purpose is to insure that no one gets left behind!

Mike Null, President of the Antrim County Snowmobile Club led the groups again this year and Jeanne (Snow Queen) Kortier rode mid pack! Jeanne's husband Chris got left home cause Jeanne's Ski Doo had a breakdown just before they were to leave the house that morning!
