I have almost 11,000 on my 06' Attak...never pulled the chain cover off but have changed the oil and set the tensioner annually. (just read I've not been doing it correctly without reversing the secondary, but now I know).
Is there enough justification to pull and inspect or wait until I hear...
Any chance for a picture or more guidance on where to look for the grounding blocks? I have two 06' Attaks and want to check them out in advance of having a problem.
Thanks Gents. The bearing behind the secondary was almost dry but not rusty. I cleaned and used the needle to re-grease per your suggestions. If I had to replace it, does anything more than the C clip hold it in?
The driveshaft bearing at the speedo was a different story though. Burnt...
Thanks to all for the guidance. When I get wrenching, I tend to want to "fix" stuff that isn't broken (yet...). I'll probably open it up to check it out and better understand it.
Frankly, I've barely done more than change the oil and greased these two Attaks for almost ten years of trouble...
Ok, many thanks for the guidance. After I finish installing the bulkhead bushings and front end rebuild, I'm pulling the clutches (for the first time...) so I'll soon have access to both.
This afternoon I installed the rail savers (reinforcement) from Barn of Parts. No doubt it is much...
Thanks! I'll leave it alone.
I'm waiting for a set of Ulmer front bushings. What are the "anti rub"s you have listed for your sled? I'm in the process of pulling the front end apart this afternoon, prepping for the new bushing kit. The upper bolts are really slopping around; it will be...
With almost 11,000 miles on my Attak, I pulled the rear suspension to inspect (and make accessing the exhaust for replacement easier). I've been looking on TY for info on the transfer rod but can't find my answer.
Does it need to come apart and be cleaned or maintained periodically? I'll...
Capt Caper - I've never looked at my jack shaft or driven bearings in the 11,000 miles since buying my 06 Attaks new. Just guessing I'm on borrowed time. I have one sled all apart after replacing the exhaust pipes. Can you or someone guide me on the jack shaft and driven bearing inspections?
