@YamaSpark, I think we're talking about different connectors.
Your 2016 Viper should have a 10 pin connector near the oil tank that contains the CAN wires needed for EPS install. This is the same connector that dealers would use to plug in for ECU reflashes (which this vintage of Viper/7000...
Yeah, if you google on this site, I believe there was a contact issue with the right angle reservoirs on the earlier ones that was corrected on later models with the reservoir being attached at an angle. I don't recall what the interference was with though.
It’s basically the same sled as the earlier Vipers ‘14 and newer. I know of one with over 30k miles. You should be plenty good at only 6k miles.
It’s still a snowmobile so if you haven’t addresssed some of the chassis weaknesses, you may want to . Chain case drive gear bushing, the 4 main...
I just wanted to add that my Viper does that same idle hang on the first run of the morning. It doesn't matter how long I allow it to idle down to 1500 RPM, after moving again, it will still hang. This behavior persists through the first key cycle (run) after it's warm.
I suspect this is an...
The 2020+ spindles are taller overall and taller between ski and lower a arm mount. See pic below that I stole from ArcticChat.
My understanding is the '19 SRX and Thundercat used dual rate ski springs that allowed them to have more sit in. This meant lower front ride height for better...
There was also an update to the solenoid in around 2018 for both the. Viper and Winder. I’ve also proactively replaced my ‘15 Viper solenoid to the new one. It’s a pretty cheap part and easy to replace.
Here is the Tech Update Bulletin image that announced the change.
Unfortunately, I’ve hit the same brick wall too.
They did tell me that the version AC and Yam are using is an older generation.
They offered to set me up as a new customer if I signed an NDA and provided expected sales volumes so they could quote a prototype piece price and production volume...
I have initiated contact with Allied Motion via a call and they've transferred me to sales via e-mail so we will see how that goes.
In the mean time, here is a full spec sheet for the Gen 7 Power-R Steer that you can all chew on. It has some interesting details, but nothing too actionable...
I'm willing to reach out to the EPS MFG, but I already know the answer if all I can give them is the Cat or Yam P/N's and the application.
Does anyone have one of these in hand that you'd be willing to peel the Cat sticker off so I can get the Allied Motion part number and try that route...
So on the topic of wiring for the Viper/7000, obviously the wires needed at the two connectors on the EPS unit are the same. The difference is the viper/7000 do not have both a 4 pin connector and a separate 10 pin connector for their diagnostic connectors. Instead, they use only the 10 pin...
For anyone who has done this on a Viper/7000, can you provide some details on where you relocated the Voltage Regulator to? Also, did you have to move the CDI on the left side at all for clearance?
The Viper has 2 sources of cooling. There is a heat exchanger at the front of the track. There is also an air radiator with fan at the front of the sled. The thermostat will typically keep 160-170. The rad fan will turn on around 195. In normal trail conditions, I only notice the fan run...
