    Clutch rattle driving me NUTS!!!

Yes your correct there is a reason and this is why, ONE to not have a side load applied to the crank as i mentioned above post. Babbit bearing's will not take a side load. TWO, these motor are multi function use, this allows Yamaha to mount them in many different application. You will find these...

    Clutch rattle driving me NUTS!!!

I have been doing this since 2010, Nytro's, Viper's and now will be on SW, we even showed the dealer here how to doit. Its not hard to do infact i've done it so many times on these Yamaha's that it takes me about an hour from start to finish. On my own sled i usually do it twice a season. The...

    Clutch rattle driving me NUTS!!!

That is 100% correct. 74Nitro instead of arguing over this, try the loc tite spline. Your sled will never sound better, kinda like a crouch rocket instead of an annoying rattly beater.

    Clutch rattle driving me NUTS!!!

Not directed to you personally, so please don't take it that way but YES i'm very serious. This guy posted Febuary 22 and yet no one on this forum could give him a good straight technical answer of what going on and be able to support it. OHH, its the clutch shims, fair enough, why do they all...

    Clutch rattle driving me NUTS!!!

I'm surprise from a Yamaha forum the lack of good info here or on anything on this forum. Anyhow the rattle your hearing is a Yamaha trait. Nytro's do it, Viper's do it and yes the Side winder will do it. Here is WHY; The 4 stroke cranks all run on a BABBITT bearing, this style bearing work's...

    100lbs ice in the tunnel

Installing a rear heat exchanger works extremely well plus you can eliminate the POS radiator. Since i have done this mod my Nytro is way better balanced and no longer carries a liner of snow under the tunnel. I'am willing to say my sled is atleast 50lbs lighter at the end of the day then it...

Do we care they killed the Nytro?

According to this guy that weighs the Viper XTX stretched 162 its nearly 560Lbs. Scale says 558Lbs with a gallon of fuel, plus Zbro arms installed, not stock. The one weighing 544Lbs is a stock XTX shorter track sled. I reread the post and imo these weights are not legit to the factory MTX.

Do we care they killed the Nytro?

Good post, that is the same weight we got on the Viper, +/-5Lbs, we were closer to 545Lbs, not 550Lbs but that could had been the fluids differences. But his Nytro weight is high, our Nytro did not weigh that much even with the turbo. Our's were approx. 545 without turbo and 570 with turbo. To...

Do we care they killed the Nytro?

IMO the Viper is a good improvement over the Nytro chassi wise in the fact the geometry of the sled makes it a better balance, lighter FEELING sled thus easier to ride. Is it the answer for Yamaha....NO....the Viper is still way behind in design compared to the other 3 builder's. Here are some...

Do we care they killed the Nytro?

Unless they are making a whole new version of these Viper from tinfoil, a 500Lbs 4stroke with a 162x2.5 track is BS. Considering a bone stock Nytro with a 162 is 545Lbs. BTW, we scaled a Cat M9000 with factory turbo and a 163x2.6 profil track, it was 570Lbs...stock.

Do we care they killed the Nytro?

I have a Viper in my shop we're building, we scaled it already, 545Lbs no turbo setup yet, that will most likely add another 20+Lbs. With the stock 162 track. Our 2010 Nytro with turbo 570Lbs, with a 174X3. YES the Viper feel alot lighter, that's called improved geometry over the Nytro.

Do we care they killed the Nytro?

The Viper is NOT and i say it again NOT 40Lbs lighter then the Nytro, that is 100% BS from dealers and Reps trying to impress and make sales numbers. If you compare the same spec'ed out sleds Nytro and Viper with 162x2.5" tracks the sleds are within 10Lbs of each other. The Rep's and dealer's...

    Rad delete project

Here are some of the results of first ride. But first thing is first, one of the differences that you get is an extra 2litres of coolant in the cooling system. The entire cooling system has more volume and more exposed cooling area as compared to the oem radiator type cooling system. We drove...

New hyfax ruined after 10 miles with ice scratchers

Whats the track your running? If your running the track you have showing, CE 174x16x2.5, that is nothing out of the usual or suprising. 2.5 and 3" tracks are not trail tracks, though the 2.5 is more forgiving then the 3", niether one fair well even with scratcher on hard pack trails. They are...

    Rad delete project

Lag is something that can be virtually eliminated by having as short as possible and as direct as possible fresh air intake, intake manifold, exhaust manifold and a directly hookedup to carb.(throttle body) innercooler. So there is no noticeable lag in powder or in tight trees, in fact this...
