I'd go with the R motion strictly for spare part availability. I have never ridden an Apex with either, so I cannot comment on the ride characteristics.

I should also add that my wife has ridden my Apex on several occasions and absolutely does NOT like it. The weight and harder steering, along with the power she finds intimidating.

I almost forgot to mention, the power being put to the cvt really isn't the problem. It's slowing the clutch down to a reasonable speed to allow belts to last and be reasonably efficient. Most 4 stroke bike engines turn too many rpm. That's why Yammi put a reduction system on the RX-1 and Apex's.

Could be a few different things. My money is on a plugged pilot/idle fuel jet. Those orifice are some of the smallest in the entire carb. When things start to get a little varnish or gumed up due to age, fuel quality (ethonol), etc, they are usually the first to get plugged. With that said...

Unfortunately, Apex's may be worth more parting out than as a whole. I can tell you this, I have way more than 5 grand invested in mine beyond the original purchase price. I would NEVER let it go for less than $5k. I would either part it or sit on it.
