Those adapters and the circuit in general will have you learning new curse words. I wired in a proper pigtail. I use the "lighter" receptacle for an twinned extension cord, into my handlebar bag for the phone, and anything else I want to keep charged and running.

If you use the Yamaha method of attachment on anything other than perfectly groomed trails, bring bungee cords.
