I guess it depends on how twisty your trails are.
I have tried 21/41, 22/41, and 24/50 on a 260hp tune. 24/50 felt too low for me. I did not have enough traction to support the lower gearing though.
If I pick up another 998, I may try closed loop. I think it is probably money that doesn’t need to be spent, but I like the idea of it self adjusting.
My TD tune on my last sled was flawless, but it was fat in warm weather for sure.
I may try Hurricane this time around.
Yes, I want some power again. It costs too much money to bring a 900R up to 260hp. I love the chassis, and the rear skid on my Lynx is my favorite I have ever had. I’m not dumping $8,000 into it to bring it up to 998 tuned levels though. May as well put that towards a Cat or Yamaha with EPS.
I am interested in possibly picking up another 998T to have in the garage before they become hard to get. Preferably one with EPS. My last Sidewinder was a non EPS SE that I upgraded the shocks on.
What is the general consensus for ride quality and trail manners between the following models...
IMO, it isn’t really an issue. I have a long groomed forest road behind my house. My SW literally had dozens of long WFO, 124GPS pulls in the time I had the sled. 0 muffler issues, no melted plastic, just a boot that seperated at the seam.
I know the gentleman that purchased my sled. It is at...
I ran Max Spool 16 for 5 seasons, and 6,000 miles, all on 91 or 93 pump fuel. I only saw the knock light a handful of times.
Yes, the stock muffler gets warm on long pulls. Warm enough that my boot on that side became brittle over time, and cracked.
I am not sure. Riding her new sled was a bit of an eye opener. There is a lot I liked about the Polaris better than my Lynx. Her sled has Dynamix and it is a slot car. The gauge, brakes, headlight, and handling were all favorable compared to what I currently have.
I am thinking it is not worth...
I am not a fan. Granted mine is a 1 ply, but I don’t see this track lasting long with high HP or lots of high speed riding.
My dad has the same sled as you. His is stock and he only rides pristine trails. He has 10,000 miles on his cobra and it still looks great. So maybe the lack of durability...
