Well after going up North again, I still have the same issue with it getting hot. It runs at almost 200 on a lake or on the trail. Back to the drawing board...
Yesterday was the last possible day to test out the sled at home, as the trails were closing at midnight . So, new thermostat, added MTX exchanger and temp gauge tapped into the thermostat housing. I rode 25 miles in the worst conditions I could ever encounter. It ran from 165-180 moving and...
I finally had time to button things up. With the temp gauge hooked up I watched the temp rise to 200 with it running into shop. I'm not sure if this is normal with it at room temp so I shut it off. Any advise would be helpful. Also wondering what would be best to tap into for ignition power for...
Just an update. I bought a new thermostat just cause it was apart. I also ordered a temp sensor and have purchased a MTX exchanger. I plan to work on it tomorrow and hopefully get it back together. I still do not know the real cause of the issue, but as long as I have it apart it would be...
Well, I got both the thermostat and the temp sensor out and tested them with a thermometer. They both are working fine. I was really hoping one of the was bad...
Stubb111, no trail tank. I took out the thermostat last night and tested it with a thermometer in a pan on the stove. It is good. Not sure where the temp sensor is but grizztracks had given me the skinny on testing it ( thanks!). Now I just need to figure out how to move forward! Thanks again...
I am defiantly going to fix the problem before adding a cooler. I am going to look for a used one. I rode it last year in rainy icy conditions for 150 miles without a problem so I know there is another issue here. Now I just have to find it. Thanks for the replys!
Grimm, I have not done anything yet as I didn't want to jump into it without some more ideas. I realize that the cooling system isn't ideal, however 5 miles on trails with fresh powder is not acceptable.
grizztracks, good info and thank you. I will start with the info you provided. My kids...
Thank you for the replys. The track is the same as stock, no studs. I am pretty sure I have a problem of some as I can't go 5 miles in powder without the temp light coming on. I am willing to add the heat exchanger but would really like to solve the problem. What is the heat exchanger I need and...
I guess I had this in the wrong section. I'll try it in this one.
2011 Nytro XTX. 3300 miles
First off I ran into MrSled randomly at a bar in the UP (what are the chances?). I did not know him until we got talking. He and his group gave some great ideas but before I dive into it I thought I...
To be completely honest I don't know if it ran all the time but when the temp light was on it was running for sure. And it seemed like every time we checked it, it was as well. Most of this was when it was hot...
